It’s a cold day in hell when I am defending a BUSH OFFICIAL against the now-disgraced and rotting/dead Kentucky Democratic Party, which is lead by a Republican. A cold day in jesus hell. If someone competent doesn’t take over the KDP and communication for the Democrats soon, I am going to lose my mind. [Page One]

Beginning tomorrow morning you’ll be able to read Greg Fischer’s first state of the city address. [Click the Clicky]

Lexington Mayor Jim Gray highlighted the negatives and embarrassing problems Lexington faces and he addressed them head-on. Will Greg Fischer have the guts to bring up any negatives in Louisville? [H-L]

WLKY’s spelling failure on the New York Jets/Jew York Jets front is getting bigger and bigger. It’s now on Failblog. [Failblog]

Rand Paul proposes eliminating HUD and everything else. Something tells me this isn’t going to go over so well with Kentuckians. [Ryan Alessi]

Here’s what Congressman John Yarmuth had to say about last evening’s State of the Union address: “Tonight was about the difficult choices we face as a nation, and President Obama mapped out an ambitious plan for fiscal responsibly that focuses on programs that are critical to our economic recovery. In Louisville, federal investments have revitalized manufacturing at Ford and Appliance Park, leading to the creation of thousands of jobs. If we do not continue to make these investments in innovation as well as education and infrastructure we will essentially surrender our nation to our global competitors.” [Press Release]

The Jefferson County Teachers Association is pushing for its leaders to be on the search committee to find a new superintendent for Jefferson County Public Schools. Why would anyone want the folks who are trying to KEEP Sheldon Berman to find his replacement? We’re all about teachers, but come on. [WAVE3]

Jennifer Lawrence was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in Winter’s Bone. Yet another local actress making it big. Something to make us proud during these frigid months. [FOX41]

You may view a trailer for Winters Bone by clicking the link at the end of this line. [YouTube]

Um, I’m not entirely sure that Falls City beer is something that beer lovers flock to? But cool that it’s coming to Baxter Avenue. [Consuming Louisville]

Suez Water tried to sue the movie FLOW and lost in court. The truth wins again. [F&WW]

In case you needed a reason to avoid downtown on February 11? Kid Rock. [FOX 41]

Now that Sheldon Berman is out as superintending of Jefferson County Public Schools, it’s time to think about the future. Who will replace him? [The 'Ville Voice]

Apparently, some folks think State Rep. Charlie Miller should be the next head of Jefferson County Public Schools. But that’s not gonna happen. We only bring in out-of-state folks who pal around with people like Robert Felner. [Facebook]

After WLKY ran a story last night declaring that the board of education had taken no action on Sheldon Berman, every other station in town ran a story that was factual. Like this one. [WAVE3]

And this story, too. Seems most people realize that being first isn’t the best way to operate in the news world. [WHAS11]

Attorney William Wilson – the guy who went “missing” in September has just as mysteriously resurfaced in the Louisville area. [FOX 41]

Really? Mitch McConnell revitalized Louisville over the past three years? This is the most hilarious story ever written. [WaPo]

We’re all just gonna play pat-a-cake over environmental issues. Because that’s what the rest of the world does. Makes sense. [NY Times]

Booked on Saturday in Bullitt County for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and for having an open container. Seems like it was just yesterday when he was doing the same thing in Shelby County.

I’m serious when I say this: let us get you some help, John. Please. Stop this. It’s getting depressing and you could kill someone or yourself.

Commenters: save your negativity. People in situations like this need immediate help.

If you read last week’s LEO, you probably noticed Rep. Joni Jenkin’s letter to Jonathan Meador concerning South End residents. You’ll never see Larry Clark standing up for his constituents like that. [LEO Weekly]

Since the C-J doesn’t comprehend that running old news as an “exclusive” doesn’t sell newspapers, they ran a “print exclusive” on Sunday. Here’s a Monday link to the story about Rand Paul’s faux ophthalmology group. [C-J]

As Talking Points Memo noted in late May, we first focused on the group. And now the paper is running this like it’s breaking news. No wonder so many C-J reporters complain to me about hating their jobs. [TPM Flashback]

Chris Poynter is leaving Jerry Abramson’s mayoral staff to work for Greg Fischer. What was that, dear readers, about Greg’s crew not being a rehash of the last thirty years? You’re about to experience another four years of zero transparency, top-down “leadership” and personal spite and bitterness. (I’m talking about all the folks, not specifically Poynter.) [Joe Arnold]

Of course we hate paying for MSD’s debt. The interesting part of this story, however, is the part where the Courier-Journal continues to promote Steve Henry’s faux non-profit, Future Fund, as legitimate despite the fact that he used the organization to move money around and was recently convicted. [James Bruggers]

Here’s more information that should lead you to believe the Courier-Journal editorial board is a Larry Clark apologist committee. [C-J]

Why is Rand Paul flip-flopping and trying to revise his own history 24/7? What’s happened to all of his “liberty” and “freedom” and all that?
