What was that, Greg, about Louisville being the most compassionate city in the country? What was that, again, about Louisville being the safest city in the nation? Quit with the damn buzz words. You looked and sounded like an imbecile while 95% of the city was stressed and saddened over yesterday’s tragic mess of death. For the sake of this city and the people who are hurting, quit with the buzz words. [Wake Up, Greg]

Everybody is apparently pissed over whatever Christopher 2X said on the teevee. [FOX41]

Do you have faith that “Metro leaders” will be able to put a plan into place to stop all the violence in Louisville? [WAVE3]

West End residents are less than happen about the spree of recent shootings, to say the least. But this doesn’t mean the West End is the only place crimes are being committed.
Louisville is apparently the 18th most miserable city in the United States of America. Are you surprised? [Business Insider]

WLKY’s teevee people – since it’s hype week – say they have: “uncovered serious gaps in metro Louisville’s first-response system where hundreds of people in dire medical emergencies did not get help in time to save them.” Forgive us for being skeptical about anything Neal Richmond has to say and any blame he places on the Fire Department. He’s not in Louisville often enough to know what’s going on.
Will anybody ride their bike in to work today? You know, the handful of people who have jobs? Or are they all afraid of getting shot up?
Maybe Barbara Shanklin should have thought about both nepotism and her grandson’s shenanigans before hiring him. Her pleas fall on deaf ears at this point. [WFPL]

Check out this crazy guy who attacked a man in District Court with a three-foot tree limb. [FOX41]

Here’s a nice look at how Louisvillians will be screwed by the Louisville Water Company and Metro Sewer District. BEND OVER AND GRAB YOUR ANKLES! [C-J/AKN]

Louisville really is Possibility City. Because there’s a distinct possibility that you’re going to be found shot to death. [WAVE3]

Lexington is trying like crazy to be just like Louisville. That town has gone so far as to start killing pedestrians on a daily basis. [H-L]

Is Thomas Massie a big time jobs creator? Not so much. And he’s following directly in Rand Paul’s hypocritical footsteps.
For real – Lexington’s financial future is called bleak. It’s absolutely trying to mimic everything Louisville does. [Business First]

Metro Animal Services says it wants to find who shot and killed this dog. We’re more worried about finding someone who can actually run Metro Animal Services without killing a thousand animals each month.
If the state legislature approves this LWC-MSD merger? You can just start bending over right now. It won’t save consumers any cash but will certainly make it easier for people like Bud Shart… her… Schardein to pocket mountains of cash.

Remember when Bloomberg gave Louisville a wad of cash?

Bloomberg Philanthropies today announced a $24 million initiative to fund Innovation Delivery Teams that help mayors effectively design and implement solutions to pressing city challenges. The three-year initiative will fund teams, comprised of high-performing staff, in five cities: Atlanta, Chicago, Louisville, Memphis, and New Orleans. To meet each city’s impact goals in priority areas, these teams will generate innovative solutions, develop implementation plans, and manage progress towards defined targets.

-SNIP-

In Memphis and Louisville, the teams will implement new job-growth strategies.

-SNIP-

“My goal as mayor is to create an entrepreneurial culture in Louisville that focuses on innovation and breakthrough ideas,” Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said. “This grant helps our city make a giant leap toward that goal.”

Greg Fischer gave 25% of that money to Lexington and is allowing Jim Host to play with it:

Jim Host, a trusted and proven community leader, has agreed to chair the initiative. The mayors and Mr. Host are assembling a small board of directors composed of business leaders from both communities to oversee the project. Mr. Host has asked Paul Costel, president of Chase Bank’s Kentucky market, to chair an Advisory Committee which will help raise $250,000 to provide capital for the project. In addition, Mayor Fischer has committed 25 percent of the recently announced Bloomberg Grant for Innovation to the Bluegrass Economic Advancement Movement.

So where is that Bloomberg money now? And why, exactly, would a city in such dire straits as Louisville give 25% of it to Lexington? Whiskey Row Preservation nightmare, TARC cuts left and right, city agencies operating in the red.

Will Jim Host tuck tail and run when the money runs out – just as he did with the arena?

Possibility City!

Here’s your friend, Jim Peden, once again trying to mess with housing code. First, he didn’t want to be around poor people. Now?

If you’ve been reading The ‘Ville Voice for any length of them, you’re familiar with the Metro Parks whistleblower – the guy who caught Parks director Mike Heitz repeatedly driving drunk in a city-owned vehicle. You’re familiar with the fact that Heitz was barely reprimanded and the whistleblower, Joey Sears, was terminated and retaliated against by Greg Fischer’s administration. We’ve covered it extensively.

You also know that the credibility of Sears’ AFSCME 2629 union steward – the son of a Fischer Administration employee responsible for human resources work – has been questioned by this site and others. Primarily based on videos he’s posted on YouTube – by him. You’re also likely familiar with the nasty things they’ve said and done to Sears as a result of his honesty.

So what’s happening now? AFSCME 2629 is threatening Sears with legal action.

Get a load of this letter they sent him:

Dear Mr Sears

I am writing on behalf of AFSCME Local 2629 to demand that you immediately cease and desist from publicly defaming Union steward Nick Keene. As a Union attorney I am sorry to learn of your recent discipline and assure you that the Union will take every step to ensure that the collective bargaining agreement is defended but, we will not tolerate the false and unfair statements you have made about its steward

A person commits defamation in Kentucky when he makes a defamatory statement about the plaintiff that is published and causes injury to reputation (Stringer v,Wal-Mart Stores inc 151 S,W.3d 791,793 9ky.2004) Defamatory statements published on websites are actionnable and if made about Mr. Keen will be addressed by the Union.

Please note the we will initiate a legal action to defend Mr. Keen should you choose to ignore this demand if you have any questions feel free to call or write.

Very truly yours

David O’Brien Suetholz

Cc: Wesley Stover

Note: Stover is the president of Local 2629

No specifics were included – because there are none. And because Local 2629 knows it not only can’t prove Sears defamed his union steward – it can’t do anything to get the egg off its face.

What’s interesting, really, is that we’ve reviewed all comments Sears has left on this site and everything that’s been written about Nick Keene – the union steward. From YouTube videos of him pretending to be some gangster thug to comments left by other Metro Government employees, next to nothing has been said about him that wasn’t based on his job title, his responsibilities as a union steward or the things he said in videos that he posted. The only nasty comments we’ve found come from Keene, comments his friends attempted to leave and those left by Nancy Ray as she pretended to be someone else. All were attacking Sears, defaming him, fabricating information that we were able to prove inaccurate – all in an attempt to further tarnish him, harm his credibility and retaliate against him for uncovering the corruption and deceit within the Metro Parks system.

2629 should be ashamed. The entire operation has floundered since Greg Frazier left the Local to work on the state level in Frankfort.

The absolute best thing that could happen right now? The union could sue Sears and open not only itself up for deposition – but all of the shady Metro Government and various Metro Parks employees involved. Can you imagine how many buttholes in Greg Fischer’s office are puckering at the mere thought of that?

Since last night, three prominent attorneys have reached out. One a former elected official with more respect in the court system than most anyone in the state. It’s only a matter of time until an attorney who isn’t afraid of Fischer Administration retaliation decides to push this case of whistleblowing and retaliation.

It’s the perfect opportunity for Republicans to pick their Democratic foes off one by one and you know it’ll happen.

If you’re an attorney who wants to do the right thing? Email me (Jake) privately and directly. I’ll put you in touch with Sears.
