Here’s what police can’t tell you about this case: they believe Gregory Holt’s murder was in retaliation for an attempted murder the previous evening – by his mother. And drugs are allegedly involved. A lot of drugs. Seems the prosecutor’s office has threatened some officers for trying to conduct a deeper investigation, so, uh, it’s time to call the CA out. Mainstreamers need to a dig a bit more deeply for the real story. [FOX41]

There’s a lot of talk in the local press about ending child abuse. But don’t forget one of the biggest childhood problems – hunger! Donate to Dare to Care. [Click Here]

How badly will the Time Warner transition from Insight hurt? Will lubrication be necessary for customers in Louisville? [H-L]

The Jockeys Guild is melting down over Robby Albarado’s situation. His suspension stays until the case is over. [WHAS11]

HAHAHA, have you seen this latest mess in the First District Metro Councilcritter race? It is hilarious. [WFPL]

Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas criticized the behavior of a few of his peers Wednesday, saying the actions of a few recent Kentucky Derby winners have tarnished the reputation of his profession. [WLEX18]

You can’t even go to Waterfront Park these days without having your car burgled or whatever. [WAVE3]

What exactly is the point of destroying this reporter’s cell phone if all data is allowed to be retrieved beforehand? Why not just give it back to him? What a waste of time and taxpayer dollars in Indiana. [C-J/AKN]

Remember Christina Gilkey? She’s the school board president in Clark County (Indianner) and is involved in the selection of the next failed superintendent (let’s get real, here). She was one of the few honest folks there in 2009 and one of the people who tried to do the right thing. Not even she can save that district – that’s how much of a disaster it is. [More WFPL]

In Louisville, federal agencies have a relatively small presence compared to other major cities, according to an analysis of recent employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. [Business First]

The amount of unnecessary hype in this story is so thick you’ll gag. Property reassessment notices went out a few weeks ago for metro Louisville, but the rate of those reassessments is the lowest it’s been in years. [WLKY]

Thomas Massie seems to have a problem with Kentucky Open Meetings laws and the Office of the Attorney General is sniffing around. [Page One]

Been wondering what kind of candidate this guy running for school board really is?

Here’s your answer:

This is the event he’s going to:

That’s on top of his latest bit of promoting an issue he ended up admitting he didn’t understand while at the same time being unable to comprehend basic math regarding educational dollars. Ouch.

Fell seems like a nice guy but he’s in way over his head.

There are some real gems in Louisville who try to run for school board.

They’re really awesome at, you know, representing the best of this city. Especially when it comes to spelling, grammar, and fancy “online Powerpoint presentations.”

Here’s one of those gems, a guy embroiled in the Jefferson County Public Schools suit regarding busing:

While we think busing kids half way across the county just to go to school is ridiculous? It’s clear that the people leading the fight against busing – and those running for school board – have no business doing either.

Waaaaait. Forgot to link you to his website.

The best part isn’t that he’s a race-fearer (or whatever the deal is):

“I think it’s absolutely ridiculous. We spend more money now than in the past and for what? Children that are too tired to actually have an everyday social life. And that’s what this so-called plan is supposed to achieve? Social Interaction among different races? I think we were perfectly fine with that before this plan came about. It’s time we stopped wasting money and start spending where it counts, back into our classrooms. We don’t need anymore politicians in our school system, we need parents to run it. That’s why im here,” said Chris Fell.

More on race:

Nope, it’s not that he wants to continue the failed D.A.R.E. programs. Not even that he doesn’t realize he, as a school board member, wouldn’t have the power to change laws.

It’s that he spends all day playing Facebook games rather than working to make the change he professes to be able to make.

In case you missed the news, the editorial board at A Kentucky Newspaper is changing. Slightly. Keith River Fields Runyon accepted a Gannettmonster buyout. Also, a lot of the wrong people were bought out. They should have fired about 20 others and raised the salaries of those taking the deal. [WFPL]

Remember Nina Yoder? Charlie Simpson says she waved her free speech rights at a public university. So she can’t collect damages for being expelled. Possibility City! [Chronicle]

Metro Council may be hoping to avoid legal fees and a court battle with Kentucky Retirement Systems but these shenanigans should give people like Jim King and Kelly Downard serious pause. [Typical Frankfort Corruption]

Yep, spending time in New Orleans instead of acting as mayor. That’s the Louisville way. Not that anything would have been done if he were actually in his office, though.
It’s interesting that Judy Green would raise such hell over people sagging pants and embracing various parts of American culture at which she feigned offense. ALL WHILE INSTALLING GRILLS IN PEOPLES’ MOUTHS!!! HAHAHA. [C-J/AKN]

All 267 families that were living in Sheppard Square have been moved out into other housing developments or are out on their own. The housing complex is going to, well, be bulldozed.
Basically, Lexington went insane and just ruined everything. Can you imagine if that interest in basketball was directed at, say, the budget or at merely electing someone with half a cup worth of sense?
Maybe Oldham County Schools should get its shiz in check before filing charges against people? Costing taxpayers even more money isn’t exactly going to be welcomed with open arms.
Really, Louisville fans? Getting involved in an argument last night in Lexington to the point that someone got shot? [WKYT]

Yesterday we pointed out a few $100,000+ reasons Kentucky Educational Television should face scrutiny of state auditors and budget officials. We summarily received nasty calls and messages from a higher up at the organization.
