Let’s just see how hard the entirety of local teevee people can freak out over the accused Southern Indiana serial killer. [FOX41]

It’s tough for us to feel sorry for Jefferson County Public Schools as it cuts jobs. All while there are so many people working at the board of education making more than $100,000 per year. [WAVE3]

The caretaker of Churchill Downs’ track is preparing for his last Kentucky Derby. This is an interesting read. [H-L]

Note: here’s the original segment from which we pulled the clip.

It’s only fitting to mention selling alcohol when your boss is a notorious drunk driver. You’ll note that this interview took place around the time Greg Fischer was first informed of Parks Director Mike Heitz driving drunk in a city-owned vehicle on a regular basis.

This year’s contest begins tomorrow at Seneca.

Note to WLKY management, who will freak out when they see we’ve legally used an excerpt of their footage: fair use applies, kids, and you’re one of the event’s media partners.

Mr. Social Media Mayor/Whistleblower Firing Mayor/Animal Ignorance Mayor/Drunk Driving Supporting Mayor is getting into a fight on the Twitter machine just in time for the Derby Festival (don’t want to scare meemaw and poppop with the homeless and hippies):

Correction – we meant Chris Poynter, as that’s who often Tweets for Fischer.

Morrison hit the nail on the head. Here’s the article in question:

Chris Poynter, a spokesman for the mayor, said the park has “in essence become a homeless camp.” He added that the city has received complaints from citizens and businesses in the area, and that about $7,000 in damage has been caused to the grass.

-SNIP-

Activist Curtis Morrison, who has been part of the Occupy movement from the beginning and is running for the Kentucky State Senate in District 35, said he thinks the administration is trying to get rid of the encampment before Kentucky Derby events begin.

“Scattering the homeless is hiding the symptom, not treating the disease,” Morrison said. “Hiding us won’t make our problems go away. It’s frustrating (Fischer) doesn’t get that.”

Really? $7,000 worth of grass damage? HAHA.

While we absolutely roll our eyes at the “occupy” movement here in Louisville – because it’s the same old people who protest everything – Morrison is right about why they’re kicking folks out.

Can’t have tourists seeing homeless or less than attractive people when they come into town for the Kentucky Derby. Those are the only two weeks a year when Louisville looks clean and colorful. Let’s get real.

And a pro-tip to Greg: blocking us from your Twitter account doesn’t prevent us from seeing your public feed.

What would you do if your home, place of employment and entire community were wiped off the face of the earth by a tornado? Recovery in Eastern Kentucky will take a long time and only the Red Cross remains on the ground supporting the people who most need it. [Click Here To Give]

What’s that? You mean MSD “accidentally” spilled another 2.5 million gallons of sewage into the Ohio River? We’d be surprised if it weren’t so commonplace. [C-J/AKN]

The Louisville Orchestra, which no one cares about anymore, rejected its musicians’ union proposal yesterday. The Orchestra says the players’ offer wasn’t financially sustainable. And this mess is never going to end, ever. [Press Release]

It’s completely weird that Cyndi Lauper will serve as grand marshal of the Pegasus Parade, right? [FOX41]

Sanitation workers in Lexington are petitioning for recognition as a union. Which means Republicans are freaking out, literally scared poopless. [H-L]

Of course local media will focus more on a tornado in Texas that didn’t kill anybody and only damaged about 800 homes than it did on multiple tornadoes in Kentucky that killed dozens and demolished thousands upon thousands of homes and businesses. [WAVE3]

Woah, this story about Muhammad Ali throwing out the first pitch at the new Marlins Park is less than happy. [HuffPo]

Metro Public Works is now seeking public comment on the Brownsboro Road sidewalk project. Which means Bob Gunnell will stop just short of paying people to freak out about it.
On Saturday, the Obama Campaign will open its field office in Louisville. Which, well, doesn’t really mean anything, unfortunately. [Press Release]

Police in Clarksville found a bunch of marijuana inside an apartment and the local media is completely freaking out. [WLKY]

Now the east end bridge shenanigans get worse. Not only are we building a zillion dollar tunnel for nothing? Now there’s a Bald Eagle nesting site to deal with.

Before anyone gets too excited over Kentucky Retirement Systems demanding $10.8 million in interest payments? Don’t forget that Greg Fischer’s top guy, Tommy, is the illegal appointee to the KRS board. They think they can get it because he’s Greg’s man. [C-J/AKN]

Louisville food trucks should probably be hopping on this wedding bandwagon. [NPR]

Why anyone ever believed Steve Beshear and Jim Host weren’t out to “get” Harold Workman is beyond us. He’s essentially admitting it on video now. And poor Kerri Richardson… where did her integrity go? [FOX41]

So this is Greg Fischer’s big plan for how to grow Louisville businesses. Literally, he’s got no plan. So he has to turn to Kickstarter. [Business First]

Here’s way more on the push in Frankfort to give government money to more people like Keith Hall with no accountability. And blaming this on John Rogers is a long shot. [John Cheves]

Don’t forget that Johnny Bell and Will Coursey are pushing this corrupt mess to benefit their already wealthy friends. [Page One]

Innovation is not the problem with finance. It’s what comes later that matters. Just like innovation isn’t the problem with Louisville Metro Government. [The Economist]

Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta was in Louisville this week to address folks at UofL. He says sacrifices are necessary but seems to make the case that cuts are risky.
Woah, it’s almost Derby Festival time again. We’re always shocked when Pegasus Pins go on sale. [Snatch One]

Since the Ark Park is as much a fantasy as the myth that the earth is only 5,000-years-old, you should probably go check these overpriced dineysores out. [WHAS11]

It’s no longer marijuana, meth or crack that Louisville drug dealers are pushing. It’s steroids. [WLKY]

Woah, the Fraternal Order of Police doesn’t plan to endorse a candidate for LMPD chief. It’s a shame the officers of our city’s police department aren’t ever consulted before a new leader is selected.
