Metro Council is putting tighter control on constables like that crazy guy who shot a lady in the face. Now it’s time for the state legislature to give cities and counties the ability to nix the office if they so desire. [WFPL]

If you haven’t paid attention to Steve Beshear’s latest stunt, it’s time to wake up. Firing a guy because some coal types pushed for it after making mega contributions. [Page One]

Of course Greg Fischer thinks his new job is just one big party. He’s throwing a “farewell reception” for Robert White in conjunction with LMPD. Only… Greg will be the only person there sad to see White leave. LMPD is throwing the reception because they’re glad he’s leaving. [WHAS11]

How excited are you that Louisville is both one of the most artery-clogging cities in the country and one of the most depressed? [WKYT]

Several groups are framing climate change as a moral cause. You know this is going to make teabagger Mandy Connell’s head explode. [WaPo]

Is there some kind of crazy force field at area Walmart stores that causes people to go insane? First they’re shooting people in the face. Now they’re fighting with clerks? [WAVE3]

Of course Metro Council should better define when spending is for a public purpose. It’s a disgusting shame that taxpayer dollars had to be spent to pay a consultant to tell us that. [C-J/AKN]

All you need to do in order to find a mayor who isn’t completely embarrassing is look toward Lexington. [H-L]

If there’s been no increase in crime at/near Cordish Co’s cash-sucking development, then why the heck has, you know, the general public noticed an increase? These violent attacks have not been going on for months and months. This crap is new. [FOX41]

More than 10,000 Louisville homes have negative equity. But don’t worry! Everything is puppies and rainbows economically. [Business First]

Don’t act like you’re not highly entertained watching Stephen Daeschner get his rear end handed to him in Southern Indiana. [WLKY]

After more than a year of pressure from fellow legislators and more than a year of obfuscation and pat-a-cake, Tom Burch has finally decided to hold hearings about Kentucky’s child death records. He couldn’t be bothered to do so until a major scandal went down. [H-L]

How big is the blank stare you now develop when you read about the ridiculous fight between the Louisville Orchestra and its musicians? [C-J/AKN]

Wait, now Occupy Louisville is protesting sexism, racism, classism and homophobia. We tend to support them but what on earth? Pick an issue so meemaw and poppop can understand what’s going on. [WLKY]

That Merck lawsuit? It’s still going to be a nightmare for Jack Conway. [Page One]

The Commonwealth’s Attorney is investigating/reviewing the unnecessary constable who shot a woman in the face. Maybe this city can finally rid itself of an unnecessary position that allows untrained crazy asses to shoot people in the face. [FOX41]

Woah, Jeffersonville is just cold turning into a disaster zone or something. Or maybe all the bad news bears are moving from Nawbny over to Jeff? [WAVE3]

Oh, wait, there’s been a “slaying” off Fegenbush Lane. Maybe Jeffersonville isn’t alone. [WLKY]

We know it’s sad to lose an animal but what on earth do you expect to happen when you tie your dog up to a bench and then LEAVE IT ALONE FOR TEN MINUTES? [WHAS11]

The editorial board (Hi, Keith!) once again proves its disconnection from reality by alleging that Jack Conway actually campaigned. The reality: Jack sat on his hands until the last week or so. That means Todd P’Pool lost to a guy who didn’t even campaign. And what the hell is with the sexist focus on Alison Lundergan Grimes? These folks need to have the guts to use their names when making shit up. [C-J/AKN]

When will Louisville’s/Kentucky’s mega wealthy residents step up to the plate and help struggling folks like Stephen King is doing in Maine? They can throw millions of dollars at the orchestra, the arts, parks but never consider the people who helped put them where they are. [HuffPo]

David Williams does have enough support to remain Senate President. But he needs to start prepping Jimmy Higdon to take over in a couple years. Higdon’s the best they’ve got and he’s not going to cave when it comes to doing the right thing. [H-L]

Metro Council is taking this rogue constable situation seriously and is meeting with the chief of police to put an end to his stupid practices. [FOX41]

Louisville has lost at least 23,000 private sector jobs in the last four years. But people continue to cheerlead for Jerry Abramson. [Business First]

LG&E is going to jack your energy bills up to the sky. So what does the company do? Goes on a whitewash spree trying to get outlets to do stories about how they’re working to improve services for customers. [WAVE3]

You’re more likely to get shot in the face at Walmart by an idiot with a gun than you are to get “spoofed.” But might as well go ahead and scare meemaw to death with the story. [WHAS11]

You know what’s crazy? Just absolutely mind-blowing? The threshold for Cordish to tap TIF money was lowered to $50 million. A, what, $450 million drop? Yep.

Why is that crazy? Because Cordish – and Metro Government – allowed a tenant at 4th Street not to pay rent for two years, an amount of about $400,000. And we’re still going to throw TIF funds at them!

Abramson/Fischer/Cordish have been foaming at the mouth for a while about how terrific things are at 4th Street Live. It’s so successful. Puppies and rainbows. And one tenant owes $400,000 in back rent. Another owns no telling how much.

The real story isn’t that Red Tavern closed, it’s that the Cordish deal is failing despite obfuscation from the company and Metro Government itself. Literally flushing hundreds of thousands of dollars (okay, millions) down the drain and Metro Government is going to give them even more property downtown.

Now that Jerry Abramson has been elected Lieutenant Governor, how much do you think he’ll do for Cordish on the state level? Hope you’re all ready to bend over and take it.

Crumbling bridges’ $140 billion tab leaves business paying the price. You can thank your “leaders” in Kentucky and Indiana for that. [Bloomberg]

Today, John Yarmuth will lobby for the Louisville Zoo to get free polar bears. He’ll ask Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to allow displaced polar bears to be placed in accredited zoos. [Press Release]

Of course Jefferson County Public Schools should reorganize its central office. And maybe start firing about 50% of those people in that office building making more than $100,000 per year. [C-J/AKN]

Yes, we all want to melt our brains because Karen Sypher is “writing a book” while she serves out her time in prison. [WKYT]

Just deserts (no, not desserts)? Poor access to fresh food is a solvable health problem. That’s something we know a lot about in Louisville. [The Economist]

Lexington is freaking out about not having enough hotel rooms downtown (it has a downtown?). Probably should visit Louisville to see how to deal with that problem because we have far too many hotel rooms that cost too much for the average Kentuckian to use. [H-L]

It’s going to cost umpteen zillion dollars to restore the Whiskey Row buildings. [C-J/AKN]

Of course LG&E is defending its coal sludge processing plant. Of course it’s attacking facts and science. Of course Metro Government and Frankfort will defend it. [FOX41]

How hard is Greg Fischer’s staff working to try to keep the negative news about the Cordish failure out of the mainstream? We think that disaster should be paying for increased patrols. [WAVE3]

We’re really supposed to believe Robert White was aggressively recruited by Denver and that he had absolutely nothing to do with them finding out about his desire to leave? Pro-tip: Don’t say you’re staying in Louisville if you’re actually job shopping. [WHAS11]

Local LMPD officers are relieved that White is moving away from Louisville. [LMPD.com]

You’re likely familiar with the Catholic lobby in Louisville. What you may not know, though, is that it’s spending tons of cash in Frankfort every year. All stemming from a desire to control women, of course. [HuffPo]

That’s leadership, transparency and change you can believe in. Here you go. It’s Greg Fischer.

Yes, we treated yesterday as a holiday that was established in honor of a genocidal maniac as an actual holiday. Why do you ask? We got all kinds of work done.

To the city employee who got drunk and parked their car inches away from our door on the sidewalk: Thanks. That was awesome. [Deep City Thoughts]

Many (read: most) of Steve Beshear’s 2007 campaign pledges remain undone. He didn’t balance the budget as he loves to bullshit, didn’t pass gambling, hasn’t solved the tax crisis, has pat-a-caked on education (save the spin, he’s done jack shit), nearly killed elder abuse legislation, hasn’t created jobs and continues to ignore the real problems of this state. [John Cheves]

While we’re at it, we could start axing these shysters installed by Jerry Abramson. Like Bud Schardein, who is the recipient of a fancy $200,000 taxpayer slush fund.

Final call for anyone interested in 15″ MacBook Pros, late 08 unibody models (solid aluminum), glossy displays, 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo, 4gigs ram, 320gig hard drives. Email Jake if interested. No, we’re not giving them away. We also have a new (unopened) 2nd Generation Apple TV with AppleCare. Know what they’re worth and make offers. [Email Jake]

Greg Fischer has the ability to go directly to his friends – River Fields – and shut that lawsuit down. But does he? Of course not. He relies on them to tell him what to do. If you believe otherwise, ask yourself this: How on earth does Jake learn what he learns about Greg? (Answer: his River Fields friends) [WAVE3]

Woah, A Kentucky Newspaper JUST NOW noticed Rachel Annette Helson and stalkTALK. We’re shocked. [C-J/AKN]

It seems Steve Beshear’s trip to India could have just been pay-for-play politics. Nobody is blinking an eye. Nothing to see here. Puppies and rainbows. [Page One]

Surprisingly, after years and years of failed Cordish nightmares, the Downtown Development Corporation says it has a plan for luring local businesses to Fourth Street. Here’s a pro-tip: don’t let Greg Fischer run them outta town like Jerry Abramson did and it won’t be an issue. [FOX41]

The University of Louisville Board of Trustees has a brand new chairman. [H-L]

Here’s what Kelly Downard had to say about the ouster of Judy Green last night: “The Metro Council Court after two days of testimony has returned from deliberations with unanimous decisions supporting both charges brought by members of the Louisville Metro Council’s Charging Committee. As a result the Metro Council Court has reached the decision to remove a member of our elected body. This is the first time such an action has been taken since Merged Government, and reached with careful thought and consideration.” [Press Release]

Thank goodness Metro Council had the sense to go ahead and remove her even after she resigned. That sends a strong message that her corruption will not be tolerated. Now it’s time for the rest of Council to stop being corrupt. [C-J/AKN]

Voting unanimously for Judy Green’s removal truly was the right thing to do. Note that ODJ is now sitting on her hands and she’s no longer screaming racism. [WHAS11]

Do you enjoy looking at pictures of cracks? How about cracks in bridges? [More FOX41]

Jim Ramsey yet again failed to address and take responsibility for the awful things that have occurred at the University of Louisville. [Business First]

Really? You’re still wondering why we complain about this city not having reliable public transportation and light rail? [C-J/AKN]

We’re still talking about Cordish Cos and Louisville Gardens? Really? That doesn’t sound like a literal flustercuck to everybody?
