“By freezing regulations arbitrarily, Congress would be unable to provide any new benefits for our veterans and service members – benefits they were promised and have more than earned,” Yarmuth said.

“Over the next five years, more than one million veterans will come home. I do not believe that anyone here can argue in good faith that just because the economy has yet to fully recover, members of the military and veterans are not entitled to the best and most current health care,” Yarmuth told the committee. “They deserve far better than this.”

What would you do if your home, place of employment and entire community were wiped off the face of the earth by a tornado? Recovery in Eastern Kentucky will take a long time and only the Red Cross remains on the ground supporting the people who most need it. [Click Here To Give]

Let’s get this straight: a group of people involving Christopher 2X and Greg Fischer want to increase the public’s trust in the police department. But they held a closed-door meeting with police, in which no press were allowed, and only shared photos after the event? Really? [FOX41]

Dear Young Republicans: you should probably never, ever apologize for Greg Fischer. [Curt Morrison]

Now that Stephen Daeschner is gone – again – Greater Clark County Schools is trying to find a new superintendent. Wonder if they’ll try Sheldon Berman next? [WAVE3]

All kinds of mouth-breathers have been freaking out over John Yarmuth’s Congressional art competition. So here’s a link to Republican Geoff Davis’ own art competition. [Click the Clicky]

What? Yet another giant drug bust in J-town? This is an interesting new pattern. [WHAS11]

Now that corporations have begun to cut ties with ALEC, it’s time to demand that legislators do the same. Legislators like Denise Harper Angel – who is furiously trying to distance herself without effectively doing so. [The Nation]

You can’t even have a kid in Louisville these days without it getting shot. It’s a shame we can’t say that this is a first. [WLKY]

Do you hear all kinds of extra mouth-breathing lately? It’s because some wingnuts are freaking out over the University of Louisville receiving funds to conduct adult stem cell research. [WFPL]

Duke Energy Corp., General Electric Co. and other Fortune 500 companies avoided paying federal taxes in 2011 by using a popular U.S. tax break known as accelerated depreciation. [Business First]

It really is a shame people like Jim King are allowing the foxes guarding the hen house at Kentucky Retirement Systems to bilk the city of money. [Page One]

What would you do if your home, place of employment and entire community were wiped off the face of the earth by a tornado? Recovery in Eastern Kentucky will take a long time and only the Red Cross remains on the ground supporting the people who most need it.
Maybe Louisvillians would be less angry at their embarrassingly bad mayor if he was winning awards for something other than his use of FACEBOOK AND TWITTER? Jesus H.
How do you make everything sound like Greg Fischer’s LMAS-euthanized puppies & rainbows? Run headlines like “Courier-Journal announces retirement of 26 long-time employees” to make it sound like it’s the decision of the employees to leave.
Final Four games scored big television ratings in the Louisville market. Which is why each teevee station sent about 45 reporters to New Orleans but can’t be bothered to permanently staff anyone in the state capitol.
The Commonwealth of Kentucky can be thankful for at least two other states for making it seem somewhat intelligent. Pennsylvania is kicking tons of kids off the Medicaid rolls and the mouth-breathing governor or Tennessee is going to sign a bill allowing teachers to tell students that evolution is the devil’s work or something.
Quick! Everybody freak out in Souther Indiana! Drug dealers are putting drugs inside clothing at stores for other druggies to snatch up.

Republican embarrassment Brooks Wicker says John Yarmuth has flip-flopped on SuperPACs.

His reasoning? Yarmuth is fighting tooth and nail for campaign finance reform in Warshington and to provide more campaign finance transparency. Specifically, he says this:

In case you needed more proof that your 3rd District incumbent John Yarmuth dances at the whims of his party’s leadership no matter what’s at stake, this week your congressman not only caved in on but actively defended President Obama’s hypocritical decision to look the other way at Super PAC spending in elections.

This is the same John Yarmuth that not even two months ago actually introduced a bill to amend the Constitution of the United States in order to take what he said then was “big money out of politics.”

About this (Yarmuth’s words):

“The rules are what the rules are and you can’t go to a knife fight with a library book and you can’t unilaterally disarm. So, I understand the decision he’s made. I don’t think anybody up until this year really understood the full potential of Citizens United. So you do have to keep up with the conditions as they evolve and I think that’s what they’re doing.”

Unfortunately for Wicker, who may be in the Marilyn Parker league of political comprehension, Yarmuth didn’t flip-flop in the least. He ever so slightly said Obama is making his own bed.

He’s saying until the rules are changed, those are the rules. He didn’t endorse President Barack Obama’s decision to turn a blind eye to SuperPAC behavior. He didn’t say it was okay. He says he understands why it’s being done.

Of all the votes Yarmuth has cast, of all the things he’s said, of all the things he’s done… if this is what Wicker comes up with as scandalous? Haha, wow, the Republicans should be embarrassed this year.
