Here’s a news release for an important charity event I’m involved in.
Sixty Five Roses Gala Featuring More Fun!
So the folks at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation decided that a good way to attract attention for their annual black-tie ball would be to re-christen it “The Sixty Five Roses Gala.” Formerly celebrated as the “Mama Said” Ball, this year’s event will have some new features designed to create a more fun atmosphere and raise more money to fight the devastating disease, according to Bryan Hildreth, honorary chair of the event.
The Sixty Five Roses Ball will take place on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Galt House. It will feature the music of “This, That and The Other,” for an evening of dancing. A non-traditional auctioneer will conduct the “Live” auction, while fabulous trips, artwork and gift baskets will be available in the silent auction, along with a few surprises. Yum! Brands is the presenting sponsor. American Airlines, Norton Healthcare and Aegon are sponsors of the event.
Hildreth, vice president of guest services at Norton Healthcare, said he got involved because he had a brother with the disease who died at age 30. “I had been sitting on the sidelines for CF, but I didn’t want his death to be for naught,” Hildreth said. “So we’re making this a special year and we’re going to differentiate this party from other events like it.”
In past years, the Mama Said event attracted crowds several hundred, and this year’s event is expected to match that number.
Tickets to the black-tie optional event are still available through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Louisville office. For more information, see the CF Web site.
