The rumors are true. Fairdale Bigfoot is dropping out of the mayoral race:

Fairdale Bigfoot has decided not to run for mayor of Louisville. Sure, the dreams of power and women and unrestricted access to shelter and food were nice, but there are three reasons a sasquatch will not sit in City Hall.

Unbelievable news.

Mr. Bigfoot went on to say this about the crowded field of candidates:

Have you seen the slate of candidates? Fairdale Bigfoot got halfway through and had to take a break. There are so many candidates, Fairdale Bigfoot will still be reading this one on the beach in July. Oh, sure, Fairdale Bigfoot will pretend to have already read it when girls ask, and Fairdale Bigfoot will put a much more obscure and impressive dust jacket over it for coffee shop reading, but the ballot will still be underneath.

And with that he went back to the underbrush of Jefferson Memorial Forest.

Louisville lost yet another great potential leader.

I know, something must be in the water or the end is nigh. More positive stuff from the University of Louisville.

The planetarium at UofL is offering a free public tour of the universe today at 7:00 P.M. (that’s when the doors open, anyway) and it’s hosted by Terry Meiners. It’s called – wait for it – Terry Meiners’ Star Tour. It’s apparently a special edition of the ongoing Skies Over Louisville program that’s been pretty popular with the general public.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. You can even stay for the 8:00 P.M. Oasis in Space program for free. So somebody go and tell us how it is.

Okay, so maybe this bit of news is a little bit scary. The thought of Terry Meiners talking about the stars at the planetarium makes me afraid.

Apparently this dude with the foreigner tattoo thingy, Benjamin “Coach” Wade, is from Survivor and will be visiting all the ladies (and the gays who like that sorta thing?) next week for some fun times.

Wade is from Season 20 “Heroes vs. Villains” and will be at a dinner at Westport Village on Thursday, January 21 at 6:00 P.M. The evening will benefit the University of Louisville’s Women’s Golf Program, according to a press release.

The por shindig kicks off at a wine tasting at Westport Whiskey & Wine and is followed with appetizers at Napa River Grill at 7:00 P.M. The party then moves to an “exclusive dinner” at Wild Eggs at 7:45 P.M. with desert to follow at The Comfy Cow. Coach K will apparently be on-hand. You’ll have to pony up $75.

Wade will apparently return on Friday, January 22 at 6:00 P.M. for more desert at The Comfy Cow.

CLICK HERE (Warning: PDF Link) for the full court file (73 pages) from the Henry case proving him wrong.

ANOTHER UPDATE: Here’s the June 30, 2006 letter from the FEC I just mentioned on the radio. Click here (Warning: PDF Link) for that.

Original story below:

Why, it’s the sound of Heather French Henry never getting to run for mayor (sorry to kill the rumor, folks) because she and her husband illegally used her fake veterans foundation:

In court documents, prosecutors alleged that in 2006 and 2007, Henry improperly used money from a nascent U.S. Senate campaign, which, being a federal race, should not have been spent on the costs of seeking state office. He also improperly used funds from two nonprofit charities affiliated with him and his wife, former Miss America Heather Renee French Henry, prosecutors said.

The two charities — the Kentucky Prostate Cancer Coalition and the Heather Renee French Foundation for Veterans — paid several hundred dollars for a gubernatorial campaign aide and stamps for the campaign and covered the costs of Henry’s personal cell phone used during the campaign.

Ouch.

Don’t miss Ralph Dunlop’s story.

Or my own final thoughts and reaction to the end of a three-year battle I’ve fought.
