This was the biggest duh moment of the entire holiday season. It was supposed to be a reliable way to help cover the cost of a new downtown arena: The building’s events would bring throngs of people downtown who would eat, drink and shop nearby. Their sales taxes would be captured to help pay for the KFC Yum! Center. But the arena hasn’t added as much to tax revenues as expected during its first three years — producing less than one-third of the amount originally projected. [C-J/AKN]

Inmate: “Did you read all that glorious bullcrap in the C-J about your president at UofL, Robert?”

Ex-Dean Felon: “Yeah, it seems he might be a better con artist than I am.”

  2. I want to share a holiday story about Steve Henry and his giving of gifts to his staff members a long time ago. He gave me a 100 dollars as a holiday gift when I worked for him in the “A” District Commisioners Office. As I was leaving for the holidays he stopped me and said “you know you have never contributed to the Future Fund!” I asked how much he thought my contribution should be and he said a $100 dollars. He then took the $100 dollar bill out of my hand and thanked me for the contribution. I learned a very important lesson that day, the grinch does really live in the hearts of some men at Christmas time and all thru the year!
