Yet Another Cordish Failure & A Silly New “Study”

We’re closer and closer to hitting our goal and launching our new project. Consider helping make that happen. [Support Our New Project!]

Meanwhile, two or three people are still pretending that 4th Street is a success and not a disastrous, expensive failure for taxpayers. The Pub Restaurant on 4th Street Live has run dry, marking the latest in a long line of businesses to leave the block. [WDRB]

Regardless of what anyone thinks about Greg Fischer, he deserves praise for pushing after-school programs in Louisville. [C-J/AKN]

Seems like only yesterday we were discussing Clark County Schools and those shenanigans involving Tony Bennett with Francene. Democrat Glenda Ritz won the race for the state’s schools superintendent by challenging the education overhaul implemented by the Republican incumbent Tony Bennett, but her power to stop the sweeping changes in Indiana schools may be limited. [News & Tribune]

That sound you hear is Bob Gunnell being involved in yet another publicity stunt that attempts to kill all progress in Louisville. We’re guessing he still hasn’t paid back his former business partners and still owes Goldsmith. What an absolutely stupid “study” to push around as legitimate. It’s a shame that UofL has a hand in this. [WHAS11]

It’s maybe not a terrific week for John Schnatter. Shares of Papa John’s declined on Tuesday following news of class-action certification for a lawsuit that claims the pizza chain had unsolicited text messages sent to cell phones. [HuffPo]

Of course Tom Wine is firing political opponents and anybody else who has rubbed him the wrong way. This is Possibility City and that’s how things work. [WLKY]

A new report says many of the nation’s coal-fired power plants won’t be competitive once they’re upgraded with pollution controls. [WFPL]

You’ll never see something like this happening in Louisville. Commerce Lexington and the Lexington Industrial Foundation have offered $80,000 to help pay consultants working to help the city solve its pension-fund crisis. [H-L]

Oh, wait for it, wait for it… the Jeffersonville mayoral scandals are beginning to hit the AP wire. [More WHAS11]

Just a reminder that the housing market is not puppies and rainbows in Louisville. Foreclosures for Louisville homes are increasing despite a year of significant decreases in 2011. [Business First]

Details are expected later this week in the Harrison County Prosecutor’s case against five current and past leaders in Palmyra. Sounds like there’s some juicy drama about to drop in Southern Indiana. [WAVE3]

Well!….the city can expect more closings!…the bogus situation of all the hype put on the 4th street development and the overwhelming amount of money spent on sustaining the place is stupid and unfair to local stakeholders.
Surely the city will give the Cordish crooks another free Pot of Money to prospect another new Tenant!….NOW is the time for the City Council to step in and change the deal!,,,Make the reporting of spending & revenue mandatory.
Also rumors abound about continuing lawsuits against Cordish for sexual harassment cases, discrimination, ect….
The analogy that its normal for business to come and go and change is not a reasonable explanation as to the failure of 4th st.
There is a Critical Flaw! in this overpaid plan and overpaid Managing operators….However the CITY refuses to acknowledge what they have been told by local stakeholders and just continue the practice of covering up their bad decisions and deals.

Louisville does not need a NBA team. There are not enough Corp sponsors in Louisville. If Miami can’t keep a baseball team, what makes you think we are better?
