Miss Barbara Wants You To Come To Her Party

September 25th, 2012 by admin · 2 Comments

Oh, what? Barbara Shanklin is gonna get off scot-free because her fellow Democrats pulled crazy stunts?

Yep. That’s probably the case.

But Miss Barbara also took to the email press release machine yesterday to remind people to come to her crazy expensive neighborhood party:

Shanklin encourages residents to come out and enjoy 2012 Newburg Community Day

Event set for Saturday, Sept. 29th and Sunday Sept. 30th

Louisville – One of Metro Louisville’s well established neighborhoods will come together this weekend for a traditional celebration of unity and pride when “Newburg Community Days” gets underway on Saturday, September 29th and Sunday September 30th.

“I want to encourage everyone to come out and join us as we take pride in our community,” says Council Barbara Shanklin (D-2). “For more than 50 years, Newburg has held this celebration as a way to bring our community together.”

“Over the years, this event has been a chance to welcome home old friends and catch up with neighbors,” says Shanklin. “We hope everyone will enjoy themselves and come out and see all the good things that have been done in Newburg.”

We posted this as a reminder for anyone interested in checking things out or seeing how tax dollars will be spent by Shanklin.

We’re sure the press will be around (right?) to check out the events scheduled: community breakfast, health fair, parade, battle of the bands, basketball tournament, softball tournament, style show and gospel concert.

With all the events going on, I’m wondering, how many officers will the “detailed” to this event and who is paying for them? Used to be if you wanted security, you PAID for it, but lately, it seems that officers spend more time on details (and thus not on their beat, as they aren’t bringing in extra officers at OT) than they do on patrol.

I think the Sheriff”s Dept. can also be hired to provide event security.
