Some people in my dept here at UPS are pissed ’cause they’re losing their jobs. Due to a combination of upper mgmt lies, mgmt illegally outsourcing work to outsiders who’ve done our coding, union seniority ‘bump and roll’ and the implementation of a new SGML authoring system, our dept will be lucky to survive until the next round of contract bargaining. We suspect UPS upper mgmt wants to convert our dept from a union shop to mgmt liaison positions, effectively squeezing out the union (Teamsters 2727.) Of course we’re filing a grievance.
