Your Tax Dollars Are Paying For This Thing

Are your tax dollars being used for a private event featuring Greg Fischer?

Here’s the 2012 Leadership Louisville Luncheon featuring ” Mayor Kevin Johnson of Sacramento and Mayor Fischer’s 25-year plan.”

It’s $75 to get in or $1,200 for a table.

Now for the sponsors. LG&E/KU is the “Presenting sponsor” and these are the rest:

  • Diamond sponsor: Baptist Healthcare System;
  • Gold sponsors: Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Brown-Forman Corporation, Norton Healthcare;
  • VIP Reception sponsor: Stoll Keenon Ogden;
  • Silver sponsors: Business First, Doe-Anderson, Fifth Third Bank, Tandem Public Relations, University of Louisville, and Wyatt Tarrant & Combs LLP;
  • Bronze sponsors: Chase, D.D. Williamson & Co., Inc., Essential Details, Frost Brown Todd, Galt House, GE Appliances & Lighting, Jefferson County Public Schools, Lockheed Martin, Louisville Metro TV, MPI Printing, TARC and Underwired Magazine.

JCPS, Metro TV and TARC serving as sponsors. All three utilize tax dollars.

Regardless of how these three organizations are “sponsoring” the event? Tax dollars are directly or indirectly being used at a time when budgets are strapped and being cut left and right. And at a time when TARC is cutting service and raising rates.

There’s literally no excuse.

    Just another chance for the Mayor to get a photo in the VT with a former NBA player at our expense.

    Is there anyway to find out how much money Tarc. JCPS and Metro TV had to put up to be sponsors ?

    I’m getting rather sick of this red carpet celebrity attention craving administration.

    This happened all the time under Drs. Daeschnoer and Berman. My understanding was that Dr. Hargens stopped it. Perhaps she is not aware of this–you need to find out what part of the operation bought tickets.

    How soon they forget Dismas House and MSD’s philanthrophizing ways.

    Maybe TARC is donating the trolley hop’s,
    in-kind.
    There seems to be no one else that wants to take the free ride. They travel round and round all day, day after day, with very few riders.

    …And LG&E takes from my pocket to contribute to someone else’s purse while proposing to dig even deeper into my pocket…
    Hmmm – I actually do business with some of these non-public entities.
    BTW – I used to work for a non-profit. We never sponsored; instead we were the beneficiary.

    Let them pay for their extravagant ceremonies or public butt kissing. In fact, let those private companies pay for it as long as our tax dollars aren’t being flushed down the river and toilet for this. But to spend tax dollar for Greg Fischer’s own personal affairs or ego building, well that’s a bunch of balderdash as Bill Bailey would have said.
