Check out what happened to this deaf guy when flying through Louisville:
While I was going through the TSA, some of them started laughing in my direction. I thought it might’ve been someone behind me, but I found out otherwise.
They went through my bag (for no reason), and found a couple bags of candy I brought. I was told I wasn’t allowed to fly with that (wtf? I’ve flown with food before — these were even sealed still because I brought them right in the airport). I was then asked if I would like to donate the candy “To the USO”. Since I know the airport there has an Air National Guard base, and I figured it would go to the soldiers, I (annoyed) said sure, why not?
The guards, as I was getting scanned, started eating the candy they just told me was for the soldiers. In front of me, still laughing at me (very clearly now). One of them asked why they were laughing, and one of them came up to me, pointed at my shirt, laughed at me and said, “Fucking deafie”. The Louisville TSA called me a “fucking deafie” and laughed at me because I was deaf, and they expected wouldn’t say anything back (or wouldn’t hear them). Make no bones about it — she was facing me and I read her lips. There was no mistake. I would later find out that they had called at least 4 other individuals the same thing.
That’s some real compassion here in compassionate Possibility City.

Being partially deaf myself…I have to agree…what a bunch of assholes!

It is not safe to fly with candy, but it is safe to hand it over to unwitting soldiers? What’s wrong with this picture? Hope this individual files a formal complaint and pushes the point hard both about the comments and the taking of the candy.

Surely there are recording of this. If he’d created a disturbance we would have already seen clips of it on CNN.

This is about as egregious as the thug TSA agent that took a urn containing a guy’s fathers ashes and dumped it out on the floor of the area that screening was taking place. This was mentioned on a few outlets lately. Instead, they are supposed to run that through a scanner and have the urn scanned via the scanner. This you know what of a TSA agent dumped the ashes on the floor. If that’s not insensitive, I don’t know what is and the agent ought to be fired.

Sounds like another fine example of giving some dumb shits some power and watching them exercise it like assholes. What a shame that those TSO’s where not properly monitored/managed. I have a few relatives that are Security Officers with the TSA, and like anything, a few bad apples spoil the barrel. Most of the TSO’s I have had a chance to meet are nice and respectful people.

I checked with the TSA website, candy is allowable in a carry on. They also have special protocol in place to handle hearing impaired passengers. My intuition is telling me this didn’t happen and ws fabricated by the young man. His website is down now saying he never intended for this to go so far…..why would you back down when you are a star and everyone wants to talke to you. I just think he was young and is now considering be liable for the statements he made against TSA.

His site was taken down before this story ever appeared on The ‘Ville Voice.
Click the link in the story and you can see more examples of problems that are similar.
Most people who experience issues like that aren’t trying to be a “star” and aren’t interested in being the public eye.
