As every other news outlet in the state has told you, the guy Harold Workman fired for screwing around at the Grease Bucket Arena in Louisville has been hired by the University of Louisville.
But here’s the entire press release from Steve Beshear/Jim Host/Ron Carmicle/Larry Hayes (Hi, Larry! Sorry you decided not to take that sweet gig after we called you out) sent via Gil Lawson:
Fair Board Chairman Makes Announcement Concerning KFC Yum! Center and NCAA Tournament
Editor’s Note: This release is being sent on behalf of Ron Carmicle, chairman of the Kentucky State Fair Board. Attached is a letter from Mr. Carmicle to Harold Workman, president and CEO of the Fair Board
FRANKFORT, Ky. (Feb. 29, 2012) – Kentucky Fair Board Chair Ron Carmicle announced today that the University of Louisville will hire former KFC Yum! Center general manager Ted Nicholson on a temporary basis to ensure the success of the upcoming NCAA basketball tournament games to be held at the KFC Yum! Center next month.
“Ted’s dismissal from the Fair Board caused significant concern from the University of Louisville and the NCAA, as Ted had worked with the NCAA for the last two years to plan the upcoming men’s basketball tournament games at the KFC Yum! Center,” said Carmicle. “I’m pleased that UofL has found a position for Ted that will allow him to continue that work and ensure the success of this enormous event.”
The Board had asked Fair Board president Harold Workman to reinstate Nicholson after he was fired abruptly and without explanation Monday. Workman declined to take action.
In a letter to Workman, Carmicle instructed Workman to “fully cooperate with Mr. Nicholson and others to guarantee the success of the NCAA tournament.” The letter went on to state that Workman’s action to fire Nicholson would be part of the board’s upcoming discussions about Workman’s job performance.
“This is an acceptable resolution to an unfortunate and ill-timed personnel action,” said Governor Steve Beshear. “According to the NCAA, KFC Yum! Center and the University of Louisville, Ted Nicholson is a critical lynchpin for this upcoming tournament. I appreciate Ron Carmicle’s leadership not only in helping make this solution possible, but also his planning for the future of the Fair Board.”
Arena Authority Chair Jim Host applauded the move, saying that Nicholson’s hire maintains stability and leadership for the upcoming event. “This is our city’s first opportunity to host the NCAA men’s basketball tournament in our beautiful new arena, and it just makes good sense to have the same management team in place that has been there since day one,” said Host. “It creates a comfort and a confidence for the organizers, and I’m pleased that Ted will continue to be involved in this event to make sure that tens of thousands of basketball fans have the experience they deserve.”
“The University of Louisville is happy to help maintain continuity for the management of the NCAA tournament as we head into the final days of preparation for this huge showcase for our arena and our city,” said UofL Athletics Director Tom Jurich. “Ted has done an excellent job shepherding this event so far, and we look forward to continuing to work with him, the Fair Board, and the Arena Authority.”
That’s what a flustercuck the mess has turned into.

Business as usual in the Commonwealth. Has Papaw Steve emerged to answer questions? He is getting shy in his old age.
