Dear Greg Fischer: Coming A Bit Unglued Lately?

March 1st, 2012 by jake · 6 Comments

No?

Because you’re about to.

Remember the Parks employee who initially reported Mike Heitz to 311? You remember Heitz, right? The guy you let off the hook for constantly driving drunk in his city-owned vehicle on city time and did nothing about?

Let’s give you a refresher:

  • Opportunity For Greg Fischer To REALLY Lead [October 25]
  • Where’s The Leadership From Greg Fischer Today? [October 26]
  • Shocking Fischer Double Standard With Parks Guy [October 27]
  • Greg Let The Drunk Driver Come Back To Work [December 8]

Turns out you let them fire the guy – Joey Sears – and fabricate all kinds of junk about him. You know that’s the case, as we’ve written about it a number of times over the past few months. Here’s a taste:

  • Retribution Is The New Way Of Life In Greg’s Govt [February 1]
  • Fischer Swept The Heitz Scandal Under The Rug [February 2]

And since then, you and your leadership have been on a mission to trash the guy. How dare he report Mike Heitz for being a drunkard driving around in a taxpayer-funded vehicle. How dare he report matters to Metro bosses before calling 311 and before WAVE3 picked up the story.

Yesterday, Sears was the subject of a mediation hearing in which he should have been given his job back at Metro Parks. Unfortunately, Mike Heitz (the drunk whose behavior you essentially praised), Marty Storch, Nancy Ray and others fought that like it was the plague.

The group of your staff claim the guy never called 311. They claim he never reported anything to Lynne Fleming. They claimed making jokes on Facebook was a fireable offense. E.G., Parks employees were Googling about the incident in an attempt to do damage control over the drunk and they found anonymous Facebook comments they say they can “prove” came from Sears. Lots of drama about whether or not he used his cell phone or sent text messages while on the clock. (Do I really need to point out that a former state house candidate on your payroll tweeted all day long until called out for it? Do we need to remind you that several other Metro employees are still on the payroll for doing the same thing?)

Not only did they wage a war of retribution against the guy – all of the shenanigans are quite familiar to the AFSCME folks, as I’ve been in communication with them for months – they’re setting him up to be silenced/put in a bind. On the same day, yesterday, the unemployment folks in Frankfort reversed their decision to allow Sears to receive unemployment. And he’s being forced to pay back nearly $9,000 in benefits. It smells like a situation in which you plan to hold the unemployment repayment over his head, hoping he’ll “resign” to make it all go away.

Sure, we all knew you would turn out to be a lackluster mayor. Even David Tandy and the rest of the people who sang your praises are trashing your lack of leadership all over the state. But we never thought you’d turn out to be such a disconnected, despicable, disgusting corruption magnet. It’s like you want everything in your administration to turn to dog poop (readily available at LMAS). It’s like you can’t help but run roughshod over anybody who tries to do the right thing. Almost as if it’s the only thing you know how to do.

Shameful.

If its not free food or a photo op it seems the mayor passes his duties off to his cronies to handle. He went from businessman to lying corrupt politician in the blink of an eye and he’s nowhere near the end of his term. All city department heads are just fending for themselves and he tries to keep himself in a good light blaming others for his faults and lack of leadership. Ie Justin Scally. It doesn’t take a half dozen ppl including a convicted felon to run a city facility. Justin could want to rebuild that he’ll hole from the ground up but with no support from the city and having to pay the half million in salary a year for the useless employees it’s not going to work. I’m not defending Justin by the way. Just using lmas as an example of the irresponsible leadership and flushing more city money down the ever flowing drain.

I think he’s proved he was never a businessman.

Jake, I c0uldn’t agree with you more. I don’t see how this guy managed anything. I have seen so many business-like decisions made that don’t make business sense.

I was conned by him and I’ll admit it. I fell for the hype, great businessman and great leader. Baloney! He really doesn’t care now how he plays the game, its his way or no way. I feel guilty that I helped get him elected! Why hasn’t anyone brought up about how he is trying to depose all the LD’s, who worked their asses off for him, with his and his sisters running buddies?

Debbie: They’ve been trying that for a couple years.

Lynn, at first, had no clue how the Democratic Party functioned. She thought Greg had the authority to appoint everyone. It took a lot of education from Lisa Tanner for her to have half a clue.

Now, unfortunately, she’s still at it. Thinking she’s powerful in Party politics because her brother is the mayor.

I say let them have the local Democratic Party. It barely exists as it is. And it’s not going to get Democrats elected if they take it completely over. It’s best to work around them.

Not sure it will matter in 2014, anyway, as this city will only re-elect Greg if he has a terrible opponent (which is highly likely).

He’s hoodwinked a lot of people into thinking he’s competent. Otherwise, a resignation would be in order.
