I wonder how much Metro Louisville would save if we lowered salaries of ALL non-union employees to under $75,000 yr? I also wonder if anyone is advising the mayor without a bias on this alternative?
Public service, like teaching, isn’t about getting rich. It’s making the world a better place. One way not to do that is to attack the benefits of those who are picking up a garbage, and treating our sewer. Hell let me be the mayor, I’ll do it for $45k/year. This isn’t hard math.

*sewage. Whatever. I’ll also need an editor. I’m sure we can pick up someone laid off from Gannett for $17/k. Still a net savings.
