Some additional thoughts, questions and concerns about being Greg Fischer’s administration literally being bought and sold:
- Martin Cogan was appointed to the Metro Sewer District Board on November 7, 2011
- He withdrew his name on November 29, 2011
- He’s a member of Jefferson Development Group
- His brother, Kevin, heads the company
- Jefferson Development Group received MSD Board approval on August 22, 2011 for a $176,995.50 for a Green Infrastructure grant for the company’s proposed development of the Outer Loop Retail Phase I project.
- In Cogan’s Board application for Metro Council approval on October 27, 2011, he answered two questions: 1) Do you or a member of your immediate family have an ownership interest in any company that does business with Louisville Metro Government? Answer: No and 2) Do you have any contract or matter pending before any Louisville Metro Government agency? Answer: No
- He probably answered correctly but what constitutes immediate family? Brother? Does that $176,995.50 count as business with Metro? We no longer believe Cogan pulled his name from the hat because it was “too much work.”
- Shakes Run, a housing project being built by Canfield Development, received $143,551 at the August 8, 2011 Board meeting. G.J. Hart (former Texas Roadhouse executive) is an investor in Shakes Run. He raised a mountain of cash for Greg Fischer. Does that pass the smell test? Fischer said on WFPL that appearances are everything when it comes to campaign finance.
- Assumption High School received $143,551 from MSD and Ursuline Academy Schools received $464,500.50. Are there any connections to these organizations? Maybe via Zielke, Schardein, Johnson? Or are those funds to Catholic schools an extension of MSD’s monstrous charitable giving with your tax dollars?
- Heritage Engineering (Mark Johnson’s old company) provided green planning for Mercy Academy, according to their website, so that’s why we’re asking. Johnson is the guy who has told countless developers – those building public parks and providing for civic buildings, schools, fire stations, building roads that they aren’t getting a nickel. (Because they didn’t contribute to Fischer’s campaign?)

The more I keep reading about what has transpired over the past twenty years with MSD the more I think that the Fed’s need to do an FBI investigation. Doesn’t the federal government give monies to MSD? Would this be a violation of RICCO?
We are so much better than this guys…God help us from the greed in people.

metro public works is probably just as a mess as MSD…i bet the relationships btwn contractors and public servants – administrators and legislators – are waaay too close for comfort.
