Oh Noes! The River Could Maybe Ruin Thunder!

Greg Fischer should win some kind of award (maybe a Golden Poo?) for the most b.s. press events in his first 100 days. And for topping it off with a damn cake. I mean, really, who paid for that? This is like watching cheap paint dry. You’re bored to tears and you just KNOW that shiz is going to chip and flake off like woah. [FOX41]

Soil erosion is far worse than reported in American farmlands, according to a new report from the Environmental Working Group. [HuffPo]

The Arena Authority is allegedly making changes in order to address an audit. [Business First]

Animal cruelty cases are adding up across the metro area. Might that have something to do with the increase of tools that have operated our animal welfare agencies the past few years? Honestly, we’re wondering. [WAVE3]

Um… there is a fancy new produce and grocery delivery service coming to town. [Green B.E.A.N. via Consuming Louisville]

Infrastructure improvements are key to recovery in the United States of America. Too bad this country can’t afford anything of the sort. [HuffPo]

Wait, what? The Cats won a game in Louisville? [H-L]

Yet another Louisvilliam has died after a shooting. Should we be outraged or just saddened? [WHAS11]

Little Todd Hollenbach, who is trying to win re-election as State Treasurer, is just cold making shiz up these days. [Page One]

The gross Ohio River is about to flood like woah, maybe, spreading gross stuff everywhere. This means you may have to be extree-careful while watching Thunder Over Louisville. [C-J/AKN]

See what happens when you try to charge people to sit in a public park for Thunder- Mother Nature disagrees and takes those seats back!

For those who decide not to go to Thunder Over Louisville, check out 18th Century Thunder at Locust Grove: http://www.locustgrove.org/

Go to this, if you prefer your kids got an education from thunder day, rather than just eye candy.

I wouldn’t waste a day going to ‘thunder’ if my life depended on it. I have far too many interesting, enlightening and worthwhile things to do other than sitting on my ass on a lousy folding chair and watching a bunch of drunks and rednecks watch the same stupid ‘air show’ that’s occurred for dozens of years and then the same stupid ‘fireworks’ show and then spend 2 hours trying to get home. Maybe that’s why Louisville will never get ahead in the global economy, because there’s hundreds of thousand of people around here who will do, exactly that.

On the Arena Authority point — They are discussing revenue and net profit from the 4th Q of 2010. Of course it’s doing well. The local athletic club played a dozen games there between Thanksgiving and New Years’ Day — plus there were the other events.

IF Jim Host wanted to or EVEN FELT that he should be straight with the public, there would be a MONTHLY REPORT ON REVENUE AND EXPENSES [WHICH SHOULD INCLUDE 1/12TH OF THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS AND INTEREST THAT IS REQUIRED TO BE PAID, QUARTERLY.

If he did that (which is easy to do) we’d all know, EVERY MONTH what was going on. IF we did know what was going on, Mr. Fish and Jim King would be having a baby Elephant about now.

The time’s quickly arriving when Mr. Host, the ‘medicine oil salesman,’ will be leaving town (stage door left) on all this.

I salute the many local “faithful” who have incorporated a spectacular one-day annual event into the fabric of their lives. This yearly pilgrimage of support by devoted Metro citizens is great PR for the thousands that we want to lure from afar – with cameras & loaded wallets. (I attended from the opening year – at the Fairgrounds – until I bought a home with its own Thunder view from the front porch.)
