“Sixth & Jefferson” isn’t just the physical location where Louisville’s hopes and dreams go to die, it’s also the name of Phillip Bailey’s weekly column.

Because I am busy trying to figure out how to not pop a vein over the latest from Metro Animal Services, you’ll just need to read this for a while:

In recent weeks, however, a handful of stories have raised questions about the ethical judgment of some council Democrats, who are regularly called out by Republicans despite having a 17-9 majority.

In response to unflattering news coverage about the aforementioned issues, Councilman Rick Blackwell, D-12, called for more accountability from the local press, particularly from the A Kentucky Newspaper’s Metro reporter, Dan Klepal, whom he referred to as “the Republican writer” during the meeting, before launching into a missive about Councilman Ken Fleming, R-7, who co-sponsored the amended ethics ordinance and is often quoted in news stories as a result.

“We need to do some PR work. It frustrates me that Ken Fleming … is now the guru of ethics. Every article about anything ethical goes back to Fleming,” Blackwell said. “We got to do something to balance that a little bit as a caucus. I don’t think Fleming should have the reins on that.”

At one point, Councilman Brent Ackerson, D-26, said that when controversial stories are published, he’d like Democratic caucus spokesman Tony Hyatt to alert caucus members.

Here’s a pro-tip to the Metro Councilcritter Democrats who are so up in arms over negative press: stop walking around with your heads up your asses and you’ll know when a negative story hits. Maybe you wouldn’t face so many questions about your ethics if you weren’t as unethical as everyone in the entirety of Frankfort and Washington combined. Once you quit complaining about the mainstream press on the rare occasion it actually does it’s job, then everyone will stop laughing at you like you’re a bunch of time and money wasters who exist only to rubber stamp every bad idea ever.

Jesus H.

Also, remember that time Tony Hyatt melted down in our comments section because we dared to suggest he deserved a raise for all the work he does?

It’s the Democratic way. Anytime someone questions a Democrat? Immediately get defensive, attack and blame it on a Republican.
