56 pages of conflicts of interest for the Arena Authority? [Louisville Courant]
Today, Jerry Abramson will celebrate the arrival of the first non-stop flight from Hotlanta to Louisville on Vision Airlines. [Twitter]
You know those 82 political appointments of Steve Beshear’s that cost the state $5.2 million? The Personnel Board voted to keep them. Without, of course, any information to prove they’re necessary. It’s interesting that David Williams is taking the liberal position in this mess and Steve Beshear and his politically-appointed Personnel Secretary are taking the hypocritical, lying conservative position. In case you missed it, here’s what Crit Luallen didn’t say about the legislative conflict of interest regarding wasted Medicaid dollars. [Page One]
I don’t know what this means, but Louisville is officially “Festival City.” And also “Event City.” [WFPL]

Jerry Abramson was honored in Washington by the Partners for Livable Communities last week for his “visionary leadership.” What, you wanted a pee alert with that one? [Press Release]
The latest Ohio River Bridges mess is quite interesting, to say the least. And there’s another meeting scheduled for today during which public comment will allegedly be heard. Unfortunately, the website with details about the meeting was down the entire weekend and some of last week, so we can’t link to anything. [FatLip]

“Hail to UofL for Vet Support”
It is nice to see UofL getting some good publicity for being one of those institutions in the nation that truly cares about serving our veterans. The University Veterans group is among the few I have heard of; I salute that organization and all those on campus who help our vets. They are doing what a lot of politicians don’t do: Supporting our ex-troops when they are in battle and when they come home. These groups are not hypocritical non-supporters like many in Congress. They deserve our adulation.

The pedestrian issues are simply amazing. Too many drivers here blatantly run red lights (most of the time doesn’t get enforced) and there is just no regard for people crossing streets or attempting to cross. Wake up Louisville. Sad, sad, sad

I think Greg having all the council folks over for breakfast was a great idea. According to what I read, he paid for it out of his pocket. Might not be a bad idea for them to get together like that on a regular basis. Greg picks up the breakfast tab and they each host a monthly breakfast at their home.

The whole discussion about the bridge financing is almost funny really. No one in the country wants earmarks from the federal government, no one wants to pay tolls, but people in Kentucky and Indiana want 2 bridges.
If we have a bridge, someone has to pay for it. With the hatred of the federal government rampant in Kentucky and Indiana, it looks like the people on the street once again will pay for it if we want it. Remember elections have consequenses. Deal with them and remember next time we have an election.

“…but people in Kentucky and Indiana want 2 bridges.”
A small percentage want two bridges. Most want one bridge in the East End. Already available state funding will pay for that with no new sources of revenue, tolls or otherwise, necessary. What’s funny is that people keep insisting that the public wants two bridges, an assertion for which, unlike the East End Bridge only option, there is no documented evidence.

Jeff G is correct, No one gives a poop about a downtown bridge, the East End is where it”s needed!
I read in the Curious Urinal the the cost of the breakfast at Fischer’s house was within reason , like in the $500-$600 range?. and accommodated councilmen, staff, family and others. Reasonable enough and Greg paid it out of his own pocket!
Had it been an exit breakfast/brunch for Jerry. He’d have had it Cordish cater it in the middle of the street at 4th Street Live, had Paris Hilton as a return engagement for $150 large jump out of the celebratory cake and Green day play for the After Lunch. David Tandy would have been in charge of the Secret promotional budget, and No HATS, jerseys, Athletic wear, logo T-Shirts, baggy pants, work boots would have been admitted. Tom Owen would have capped off the scrumptious feast with an OJ & Vodka cocktail Toast to what a Great Era the Jerry years were! Meanwhile all the Curious Urinal invitees would have gotten their free coffee & doughnuts in a VIP press room hosted at the Bowling Alley while running around playing spotters in their sock feet.
There would have been probably three divisions of Metro police security surrounding the complex to make sure no indigent souls could wander in and mistake the place for the Wayside Mission breakfast offering where it would be fitting for Jerry to host an EXIT Breakfast!

My vote for one of the funniest posts I’ve seen this year goes to AceHat. I laughed so hard that I had to wipe the coffee off my computer screen.
