At 6:05 this morning there was a 20-minute wait at my polling location. What were things like in your neck of the woods? Any hiccups? [Deep Voting Thoughts]

Here’s an in-depth report from the radio people about Louisville’s mayoral front-runners. [WFPL]

The number of food stamp recipients in Kentucky only dropped slightly in September. This graph is alarming. [Page One]

I know a certain radio host for Clear Channel who needs to read this list of seven shocking facts about minority unemployment. [HuffPo]

Hal Heiner and Greg Fischer scrambled yesterday for last-minute votes. Predictions? [FOX 41]

Branden Klayko has been abducted. It’s official. He needs to quit his job and get back to covering things nerds like us enjoy. [Broken Sidewalk]

Now that PPL has acquired LG&E, what’s gonna happen? Should we bend over and grab our ankles? What? [WAVE3]

Everybody thinks Jack Conway will lose to Rand Paul by double digits. [FiveThirtyEight]

But he’ll win here in Louisville. May be one of the few of Kentucky’s 120 counties in which he closes the deal over Paul. [WHAS11]

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has been indefinitely extended by a federal appeals court. This means Peeping Todd Lally can once again stare longingly into your tent to see if you are, ahem, “slogging” your battle buddy. [HuffPo]

Absolutely no line at my Highlands polling place at 9AM this morning. And I was the youngest voter there by 15 years at least, except for the “Baby’s First Vote with Grandpa” thing that was happening next to me.

Short wait at Eastern HS in Middletown at 7:30 this morning. There were 39 races on my ballot which is more than I ever remember.

No wait at all at McMahon Fire Station 7:00 this morning.

  • 4 Laurie // Nov 2, 2010 at 11:13 am

Short wait @ fire dept on Manslick at 7:30 this morning.

Voted around 9:30 a.m. at Jeffersontown HS. Although it was quite busy, I got a ballot promptly and only had to wait a couple of minutes for an open booth.

I agree with James H: the ballot seemed to go on forever…

No wait for a ballot at St. Leonard’s at 8:15 this morning, but a good 5 – 10 minute wait for a booth. I’m always impressed by the turnout in L117, L118 and L119, but this is far more than even in 2008.

And yeah, the ballot was way too long…

Only about a 3 minute wait at Atherton High School at 11 a.m. Lots of elderly people voting. I like that. As long as they vote my way. :-)

Daniel M: Wow. Glad to see turnout still good that late in the morning.

At 6:00 A.M. (same location), there was a wait for a ballot and for a booth. It was easily pushing 20 min.

No wait at Crescent Hill Baptist Church at Frankfort and S. Birchwood Ave’s

  • 10 Charlie // Nov 2, 2010 at 12:38 pm

No wait at United Crescent Hill Ministries at 7:15am but most of the booths were in use.

    Long ballot.

I was stumped on the “Soil and Water Conservation District”. WTF? Why am I voting for this? Can we please get those to be appointments?

  • 11 Steve Magruder // Nov 2, 2010 at 1:14 pm

Charlie, that’s why you should follow @LouisvilleHI on Twitter — I made recommendations in that race. :)

Or just do research on your own without letting someone else tell you how to vote.

K of C River Road, 11:00 am, short wait for ballot, long wait for booth; very small polling place experiencing much higher than usual turnout.

Voted at Iroqouis VFW at 8:30AM, lots of folks 5 minute wait for a booth

  • 15 JamesH // Nov 2, 2010 at 2:50 pm

On the same subject as Charlie above. Shouldn’t Coronor be an appointment? I never vote in this race because I am unqualified to know which candidate is qualified for the job, if either is at all. And why does it matter if my coronor is a democrat or republican.

Another question. Does a constable have any actual duties? I read on wikipedia that the state allows for a $9K salary, but Metro Council cut it to $100 per month.

If I don’t know anything about the people running I leave blank. Let the people who know something about the race vote.

  • 17 Mark Stanton // Nov 2, 2010 at 3:17 pm

St. Paul’s in the Highlands had a steady flow of people coming and going at 2:00pm. No waiting but almost one voter after another, busier than I would have expected at that time of day.

I must admit that I passed on the soil and conversation “race”. I was going to write in Steve Magruder but then what if they couldn’t read my writing? :)

  • 18 JamesH // Nov 2, 2010 at 4:27 pm

Oh I passed on the coronor, soil and conservation, constable, and quite a few of the judges. I never vote if I don’t know anything about the race. And trust me, I try to do my homework. None of those races are well publicized oustide of the two or three questions asked by the CJ. And many times the candidates don’t even respond to the CJ’s questions.
