What’s that sound?

It’s not new news, nope.

But. It’s Eric Garrett getting his job back – with backpay.

Eric was right about the hot mess at LMAS and he was right with respect to this other mess. It gives faith to the faithless when justice prevails. Thanks Eric for doing the right thing and then sticking out this horror!! We all owe you cudos!

This is why the Metro employees need Heiner. This is another typical cover up of illegal management activity by attacking the employee.

This is not about Public Works or LMAS, the villians here are Lynne Fleming, Sarah Martin – the grossly incompetant personnel people who pursue and support these actions.

Announced to the sound of thundering silence from the Courageless Urinal. Any mention of sanctions against the cadre Metro Monkeys who tried to Shanghai Garrett in the first place?

Let us not forget it was Metro Monkey Rudy Davidson who was responsible for first shifting Garrett out of Animal Services over his whistle-blowing attempts there.

Now retired, Davidson wrote a lengthy public endorsement last fall for Garrett’s former boss, Gilles Meloche, which was published as an op-ed in a local rag, claiming “…, in spite of recent staff allegations and the opinions of some council members, I want to point out that Dr. Meloche leaves our community with a legacy of a much higher priority for the care of our beloved pets. Since these animals have no voice, on their behalf I want to thank Dr. Meloche for the good work he has done.”

An excerpt from one of Garrett’s 2006 emails (under six months from the time Meloche was hired): “Ten days ago I pointed out that there was a discrepancy between animal population and the workforce going into the weekends, and this weekend was a good example. So I had the pleasure of plucking out a few dead or dying cats and puppies from their quiet corners of despair. I kept fit rushing (if not limping) to break up dogfights, and moved a dozen dogs so they could eat without being attached. Maybe some of this irritability comes from being locked up inside all night and forced to lie in dog shit. What do you think?”

Why can’t we attract more business to Duh Ville? Perhaps its because decent folks who try to weed out political corruption are put on leave and forced to prove they’re not insane, while their bosses get to retire with full pay or resign and get a full public commendation from the Mayor.

(Side note: Davidson is currently spending his time and energy as a proud member of the Greg Fischy campaign where, no doubt, his boundless dedication to public service and deep personal ethics are coming in handy.)
