Greg Fischer Award Revisionism Is Under Way

October 8th, 2010 by jake · 1 Comment

In late April, we started discussing Greg Fischer’s claim that he won Inc. Magazine’s Entrepreneur of the Year award. That, of course, was proved by us to be a lie.

What’s interesting – beyond the fact that he’s no longer mentioning the alleged award during campaign appearances – is that the information is slowly being removed from Fischer’s official history.

Here’s what his Dant Clayton profile looked like in April:

And here is the link to the profile that – shocker – no longer exists.

Fischer made the same claims on Facebook:

Not surprisingly, that press release has since been removed from the account – though other releases dating deep into 2009 remain.

The Inc. Magazine bit is still on his Iceberg Ventures profile and on his campaign website. But it’s truly interesting that the information is slowly starting to disappear.

Guess he thought no one would notice.

“Day by day and almost minute by minute the past was brought up to date. In this way every prediction made by the Party could be shown by documentary evidence to have been correct; nor was any item of news, or any expression of opinion, which conflicted with the needs of the moment, ever allowed to remain on record. All history was a palimpsest, scraped clean and reinscribed exactly as often as was necessary.”

    - George Orwell, 1984, Book 1, Chapter 3
