CN|2 Says Yarmuth Up 23 On Lally

September 22nd, 2010 by jake · 38 Comments

Here’s the latest from Ryan Alessi:

  • John Yarmuth 53
  • Todd Lally 30
  • Undecided 12
  • Michael Hansen 4.5
  • Ed Martin less than 1

How will Lally spin this one?

While I don’t believe the actual margin is 23 points, there’s no question Yarmuth leads Lally.

Well, it’s strange. At 5 p.m. I heard there was a poll on WHAS.com between Yarmuth and Lally and Lally was at EIGHT-FOUR PERCENT!! I checked the site and that was correct. When I took another look at 9 p.m., the poll had ended and Lally was at EIGHT-FIVE PERCENT!! Just now when I checked to give you the web address, the whole thing is GONE!! Wonder how YARMUTH can spin that one?

  • 2 jake // Sep 23, 2010 at 7:25 am

    How can he spin it?

What’s the spin? It’s not scientific. It’s Todd Lally and his teabagger supporters voting on a website over and over. A website for a hyper-conservative Clear Channel station, no less.

  • 3 CM // Sep 23, 2010 at 9:40 am

Trust me when I tell you this..Lally has a 20 percent lead in the suburbs…..What are you going to do if he wins ? Move?

  • 4 jake // Sep 23, 2010 at 9:43 am

He’s not winning. The 3rd District is the only real Democratic stronghold in the state.

    And move? Riiiight.

I’m not a mouth-breather extremist who runs from difficult political environments.

  • 5 SiteMinder // Sep 23, 2010 at 11:15 am

For months and months everyone claimed the only survey worth squat is SurveyUSA. Then SurveyUSA releases their poll and Yarmuth has only a 2% lead. Those who said “wait until SurveyUSA” then wrote blogs and blogs on how SurveyUSA’s polling methods were skewed.

This poll by CN-2 is identical to their poll results 3 months ago. What did someone at CN-2 forget to actually call the voters and they just turned in the same results?

  • 6 jake // Sep 23, 2010 at 11:21 am

Actually, Mr. Bank of America (you love being called out, remember) – I’ve written posts and posts on one blog (singular) — this one.

That said – SurveyUSA is still the most accurate. And you didn’t see me saying that CN|2 is accurate in the least. I’ve actually spent considerable effort discrediting Braun Research on Page One.

But thanks for your right-wing blowhard spinshit.

  • 7 Static // Sep 23, 2010 at 11:35 am

Jake, I’ve been reading your site for a while and I’ve never seen such a personal hatred for one person than you have for Lally. Get over it, buddy. You take a shot at him every chance you get and never give him any credit for anything. Do you wake up looking to badmouth the guy? Life’s too short to be so bitter.

  • 8 Steve Magruder // Sep 23, 2010 at 11:38 am

Even SurveyUSA can produce an outlier. Let’s see what the next one says.

  • 9 Sammie // Sep 23, 2010 at 11:46 am

Wrong! In the poll, you could only vote once per day and I think it probably started that morning.
When I stopped by the Lally Campaign headquarters to pick up 2 signs at about 6 p.m. on my way home from work, they weren’t aware of the poll but were happy about the results.

  • 10 jake // Sep 23, 2010 at 11:53 am

Then why was I able to use four different browsers to vote with the same IP address?

You Lally mouthbreathers need to move along.

  • 11 jake // Sep 23, 2010 at 11:54 am

Static: HAHA! How dare I question anti-gay bigot Todd Lally!

What’s ever done? Where are his specifics, other than anti-Yarmuth/anti-Pelosi/anti-Obama rhetoric?

Todd’s done nothing but occasionally comment on this website and pal around with Frank Simon and the rest of the gay-haters.

If you don’t like it? Don’t read it. I’m not holding a gun to your head.

  • 12 tbrauch // Sep 23, 2010 at 12:42 pm

Anyone who thinks an online VOLUNTARY poll is accurate needs to go back to school and take a statistics course or a survey methodology course.

I spent 2 weeks in each stats course I teach explaining why such polls are inherently inaaccurate. How many people without strong feelings do yuo think took the time to fire up the computer, go to the website, and vote in an online poll? The only people who voted were people who felt strongly and who knew about the poll.

Seeing as my facebook newsfeed was filled with people advocating others to go vote in the poll, I imagine a lot of Lally supporters knew about the poll and went to vote as they were the ones spreading the word.

  • 13 Sammie // Sep 23, 2010 at 2:11 pm

I can only tell you what I know. At 6 p.m., no one at the Campaign Headquarters had heard of the poll and those there had been working to get out 20,000 mailers that day so I doubt your idea of his people trying to trick the computers. Maybe someone somewhere was doing that, but how many people would have been doing this on their own? You just can’t accept what’s been obvious all along.

  • 14 Static // Sep 23, 2010 at 2:41 pm

Jake, gayboy, whatever you want to go by, I’m sorry everyone in this city doesn’t agree with you and your gay brothers, but there’s more to this election than worrying about what the gay community thinks. You need to get out of your Highlands bubble (and yes, I live there and see it everyday) and realize that there are bigger issues that people will vote on and not worry if Todd Lally does not support gay rights.

And this may be a newsflash to you, but the anti-Obama/Pelosi push has worked in other races thus far. Who’s to say it won’t work in this great city? Oh wait, you do. I forgot you’re the end all, be all on all things liberal politics. Now you can get back to brewing up your next Lally bash. Your fascination with him is borderline creepy.

  • 15 jake // Sep 23, 2010 at 2:46 pm

I go by “jake” and “jake” only, Todd/Static/whatever.

A majority DOES agree with me. Which is why the Fairness Ordinance is in existence. Even a majority of Republicans support the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

    So save your anonymous bullshit.

I haven’t been to the Highlands, where bigot Todd Lally lives, in probably ten or twelve weeks.

The only thing that’s creepy is people like Todd who think they know what’s best for others based on their own fears and stupidity. And people who don’t have the guts to use their own name, because they’re afraid of reactions.

  • 16 Steve Magruder // Sep 23, 2010 at 2:56 pm

The poll on WHAS.com is unscientific, period. For those who don’t agree, I suggest to you that you take a Probability and Statistics course.

Also, it’s not only the left-leaning bloggers who think Lally is not so good… take a look at what right-leaning (at least) Ed Springston has been saying. Hoo boy.

Let’s just say Lally is in real trouble. Lally is like Fischer — not as highly respected as they might think or claim in their respective parties.

  • 17 Steve Magruder // Sep 23, 2010 at 3:01 pm

“And this may be a newsflash to you, but the anti-Obama/Pelosi push has worked in other races thus far.”

Yeah, in GOP primaries, where oftentimes the candidate preferred by the GOP hierarchy (usually the more moderate, electable one) lost.

  • 18 Static // Sep 23, 2010 at 4:30 pm

HAHA! Yeah, you’re a real tough guy by using Jake, because that just tells everyone who you are. Get real buddy. Obviously you are not able engage in any meaningful banter b/c you are so blinded by your gay agenda. Oh, and you’re wrong about where “bigot Todd Lally” lives, but keep spewing out whatever you want to help you sleep better at night.

Steve, Ed Springston is a joke. Just because he is a Republican doesn’t mean many people in the Republican circles give him any credibility.

I think it’s fair to say Yarmuth is in for a dog fight. Will Lally win? Who knows. Anyone who is trying to beat a 2-term incumbent is going to have their hands full, but to disregard Lally as a serious contender would be a mistake. It will be an interesting month ahead, that’s for sure. May the best man win and represent our great city and the hard-working people in it to the best of their ability.

  • 19 jake // Sep 23, 2010 at 5:00 pm

Todd Lally himself says he lives in the Highlands. So I’m wrong?

And what “gay agenda” would that be, exactly?

I think people like you are some of the most disgusting. Worse than crooks like Steve Henry and Gilles Meloche. Because you spew hatred and horse shit anonymously.

  • 20 Steve Magruder // Sep 23, 2010 at 5:35 pm

Springston has his foibles, but I’ll give him this: He is good at sniffing out stench, perhaps with an oversensitive nose, but still, if he thinks Lally is a joke, he’s a joke.

  • 21 Ed Springston // Sep 23, 2010 at 5:47 pm

Wow I havent been here in a few days and I get mentioned. Thanks guys. Seriously though it looks like Lally supporter Static, or Jay, or Joel.;-), is pulling out all the stops to try and defend such a weak candidate.

By the way Static just so you know I may be registered as a Republican but am far from being one.

I have been very clear and public that theonly reason I am Republican was so I could vote in this year’s primary. If they ever make it fair so all can vote in primaries I wouldnt be a registered Republican at all.

I am an equal opportunity guy. Democrat, Republican, or other if you are corrupt in my opinion I will out it.

    It really is that simple.

And yes I know I am being moderated but curiously static isn’t after his gay bashing spiel. Interesting indeed.

  • 22 jake // Sep 23, 2010 at 5:51 pm

Hey, Ed, how are things since Dan Fendley, your ghost attorney, died?

  • 23 jake // Sep 23, 2010 at 5:51 pm

(And, yes, he told me he and his son were involved while he was still alive)

  • 24 David // Sep 23, 2010 at 6:45 pm

Hed Ed, I was reading your website today and just thinking how you’re tagging along behind Ed Martin even though the man can’t even manage a campaign. What makes you so sure this guy could manage anything from Washington? Have you really got any idea how hard it is to run a successful campaign and what it takes in money, guts, friends, family, and hard work?
You have to give it to Lally — he came from the ordinary middle class to compete very well in the big leagues. I don’t even think he realizes that this is a nearly impossible task. And don’t think the “Party” does ANYTHING for you. The media has been ignoring him all along until his people stood in the rain holding signs in front of the Courier. The Party gave him no money, no support, no encouragement, no contacts, no workers; ZIP, NADA, NOTHING!! I understand that he is in Washington today and maybe he’ll finally get some help. But, if you think someone is a great candidate and they can’t even muster putting it together and organizing half a campaign, they aren’t as great as you think. THE CREAM ALWAYS RISES TO THE TOP.

  • 25 jake // Sep 23, 2010 at 6:50 pm

The cream only rises to the top if the milk isn’t soured.

  • 26 Steve Magruder // Sep 24, 2010 at 9:32 am

David, what is Lally’s record with respect to _local_ civic issues? I’ve never heard of him being involved in any issues, where he had to get his hands dirty in learning about what’s really going on in Louisville. Please inform us.

  • 27 David // Sep 24, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Lally has been showing up at political events for decades in Louisville. He’s worked in campaigns and once ran for office. Give the guy a break! He’s spent 22 of his 39 years serving us in the military. The Air National Guard had a story about 5 years ago about his quick thinking and aid that saved a pilot who had gone down in the Indian? (I think) Ocean. I know that while we were all trying to stay warm in the worst ice storm in Kentucky’s history, Lally and team were actually saving lives in the backroads of Kentucky under miserable conditions and sleeping on cots w bags for a toilet. All this is not to mention carrying our national and local wounded soldiers to life-saving help and taking in supplies under fire to keep people alive in 3 war zones. Let us know what trust-fund baby-turned-daily-golfer Yarmuth has done to “get his hands dirty.”

  • 28 jake // Sep 24, 2010 at 3:08 pm

Sorry, serving in the military does mean he’s qualified to lead the entire country in the United States Congress.

So far, he’s offered zero comprehensive solutions aside from attacking Yarmuth and complaining about any potential repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

What John’s done to get his hands dirty: he’s cast the votes Louisville asked him to cast by voting for him in huge numbers, he’s repeatedly donated his entire salary to charity and he’s made himself available.

Will Todd Lally be able to do anything remotely close? No, he won’t. Because he’s about ten times worse than Anne Northup and you know how Louisville feels about her.

  • 29 David // Sep 24, 2010 at 7:27 pm

Casting those votes was hard WORK?(?) but it DID get his hands plenty dirty. As did all the votes he cast to benefit his family’s business — bilking the taxpayers — and then giving away his $100,000 salary to cover the millions he and his brother gained by his votes. Maxine Waters is small potatoes compared to Yarmuth.

  • 30 jake // Sep 24, 2010 at 7:30 pm

Dear Lally Supporter: How many times a day do you jerk off while reading this website?

Prove his family business gained millions. Prove it.

Prove he’s corrupt like Maxine waters. And use your real name when lobbing accusations you know are false.

  • 31 David // Sep 25, 2010 at 3:18 am

Since this information has been all over the internet, are you saying you didn’t know it???
Here’s just one link: — EDIT – LINK REMOVED, FOLLOW THE RULES
Don’t you think that, having a large financial interest in a business that would benefit from Medical increases, a reputable Congressman would have recused himself from voting — much less from DRAFTING LEGISLATION!!??

  • 32 jake // Sep 25, 2010 at 9:19 am

Really? Sarah Durand? The only girl to lie more than Mica Sims? Please.

    And Pajamas Media? HAHAHAHA.

What you posted didn’t prove John Yarmuth is earning millions from health reform – or from anything. Your mouth-breather spinster merely knows what Yarmuth disclosed on his PFD – that he owns stock in Almost Family. You don’t know if he benefited from any increase in
revenue or if there was increased profit to be pocketed.

    Try harder.

You don’t get to have it both ways. You can’t say health reform is robbing your precious Medicare while criticizing Democrats for – gasp – expanding Medicare.

  • 33 Static // Sep 25, 2010 at 4:56 pm

Jake, don’t you think it’s ironic you keep calling out everyone for not using their real name on a message board but you just go by “Jake?” You’re such a tough guy, let me tell ya. You try to run a respected website but then say things like “How many times a day do you jerk off while reading this website?” Wow, real classy. This website is really going places with commentary like that. And judging from those who post on here it looks like I’m one of about 10 who actually read this thing. After November 2nd I’m sure you will get back to your 3 loyal readers. I am very thankful I do not lead such a bitter, angry life you live. Cheer up, buddy. It will all be okay in the end.

  • 34 jake // Sep 25, 2010 at 5:06 pm

Newsflash: Jake is my name. And anybody reading the site that has ever paid attention knows who I am. How anonymous of me!

Where have I ever said I try to “run a respected website”? I frequently tell people not to read it if they don’t like it. But you mouth breathers continue coming back. You continue refreshing. You continue to make me money.

Less than 1/10th of 1% of readership comments. And it’s usually the lowest common denominator, like you, who complain. The average concern troll.

If I was insignificant and if this website was so worthless, I’m near certain you wouldn’t bother loading it and most certainly wouldn’t take so much time each and every day commenting.

Thanks for the personal attacks! And thanks for continuing to make me money.

  • 35 Sammie // Sep 26, 2010 at 7:57 pm

I wouldn’t be reading it except that someone using my computer put an icon on my windows page. I had never heard of you, but since it’s there with all the other media icons, I starting checking you out as well. But I agree with Static that there seems to be little involvement here. I do find it interesting that you are so quick to criticize those who post so you obviously don’t care if everyone loses interest. I think, if I were you, I would try a little more salesmanship. Hope this isn’t your livelihood.

  • 36 jake // Sep 26, 2010 at 8:03 pm

Guess that’s why you’ve been reading and commenting since 2009. Total irrelevance.

I’m obviously wasting away to nothing.

  • 37 Billy Taylor // Sep 27, 2010 at 10:35 am

Boy, it’s getting tough in here Jake.
The polls reflect the results of those who do the polling and the questions being asked in the poll. No matter what poll you read the truth of it is going to be who gets the vote out…….
And in a year when the incumbent is a target and Washington is a mess that reflects badly on both parties you can bet it will be a close race.
Todd will see the anti establishment vote come his way, while John will get the loyalty to the party vote.
A lively debate may take place over the polling data being released, but in the end it will come down to party organization and their ability to get prospective voter out of their houses and involved.……………
So please everyone VOTE this November, on the candidates’ positions about the issues that affect Kentucky’s 3rd district as well as the nation or it won’t make any difference what the polls say.

  • 38 Steve Magruder // Sep 27, 2010 at 11:43 am

Notice how David doesn’t answer my question.

It’s pretty simple. What is Lally’s record on local civic issues?

John Yarmuth had well established himself and his viewpoints/activity on local civic issues before running.

To faithfully answer the question is to provide some specific examples of Lally’s work, and on which civic matters. Thanks.
