Ed Martin, the Libertarian running for congress in the 3rd District, hired new staff members. Some guy named Ronald Seiter as campaign manager who was affiliated with the local teabagger group. Darren Brinksneader as media director. Wendy Caswell as events coordinator. This is sure to aggravate Todd Lally, the Republican who is also running for the seat currently held by John Yarmuth. Jerry Abramson’s Leadership Louisville address was published today. A handful of people will wet themselves with glee, proclaiming him the most important man on earth. The rest of the city will gag a little bit before rolling their piece of dead tree up to beat their screaming children. [A Kentucky Newspaper]
Rand Paul, your teabagging overlord, says Nobama and Pelosi hate America and ignore Kentucky. Which is pretty smart, considering there’s a new story every day about Rand not having a clue about Kentucky himself. [WAVE3]

Regarding Happy Pants: From my personal assessment of this community’s attitude, it is so sick and tired of Jerry Abramson that the CJ’s self-serving articles about him not only fall on deaf ears but they further gin up a private and personal disdain — for which retribution will be achieved the next time he appears on the ballot WHICH WILL BE the FIRST TIME he’s ever had any effective opposition.

I do believe that Obama has made a strategic mistake in not paying more attention to Kentucky, with visits and such. I think that might be a big part of why he’s unpopular in the state — Kentuckians like personal attention. Of course, they also tend to revile people who don’t look like them, but that’s another story.
Obama just isn’t very good at pandering, which is one reason why I like him, but also probably why many Kentuckians don’t get him.

Maybe people and Kentucky don’t like being labeled as racists by people like Chris Mathews and others on MSNBC on election night because we didn’t go for Obama in a big way?
I don’t have a problem with what Obama is doing, because it makes good political sense in regards to his allocation of time and efforts. We frankly don’t matter in the presidential sense.
We are as politically irrelevant as every other “fly-over” state that doesn’t have an early primary. If the smaller states with a low number of electoral votes ever want to get the attention of presidential candidates, we need to install a rolling primary that makes our votes matter at least every few years.
Pandering is what happens in Iowa and New Hampshire. Being utterly ignored is what happens to us and pretty much every other state that falls into our demographic.

Maybe they were citing exit polls in which 20% of Democratic voters VOLUNTARILY admitted that they voted against Barack Obama on the basis of race?
Careful with your spin, kids.

What % vote FOR him based on race?

20% of Democrats….I thought the Republicans were the racists?
Doesn’t change the fact that our votes are, for all intents and purposes, irrelevant in presidential politics because of our late primary date. It’s nauseating watching all of the 2012 wannabes sucking down fried candy bars at the Iowa State fair and acting like they are going to wait until sometime next year to decide if they are going to run.

If 20% of Democrats voluntarily admit to voting against someone on the basis of race… let’s get real. Then TONS more Republicans voted against him on the basis of race.

I made that comment in jest, but if we’re going to get real, you have nothing to support that assertion other than your personal beliefs.

Other than the reality that it’s people like Frank Simon – Republicans – who are the most bigoted in Kentucky.
And that’s saying a lot, since at least 20% of Kentucky’s Democrats are bigoted.

Frank Simon is a bigoted moron. You will find no argument from me on that point. I have always had a major problem with the religious right and their desire to push their beliefs on everyone.
I just think there are far bigger issues out there facing all of us (national debt, economy, medicare and social security insolvency to name a few).
I just don’t understand putting the amount of energy and capital into keeping people from gambling, drinking, marrying someone of the same gender, or wanting to post the 10 commandments on every public venue ever built.
