Republican congressional candidate Brooks Wicker released this statement earlier today:
I commend Mr. Yarmuth for again donating his congressional salary to local charities. But aren’t you tired of these wealthy guys, like Mr. Yarmuth, who are so out of touch with life as the rest of us know it, buying an office and playing at politics? Politicians like Mr. Yarmuth, who are wrong on almost every issue that affects their constituency; voting for higher taxes, Cap and Trade, the Health Care debacle, and sky high deficits for as far as the eye can see. Mr. Yarmuth is basically voting down the line for the Nancy Pelosi agenda for America. Millionaires, like Mr. Yarmuth, can afford to give away their salary and not miss a beat. I wonder how many of Mr. Yarmuth’s constituency can afford his voting record much less to give away their entire salary, particularly in today’s economic environment? I know I can’t.
I’d like to remind the apparently delusional Republican that voters like Congressman John Yarmuth’s stances so much that they have twice voted overwhelmingly for him. The most recent? A 17%+ victory over the very Northup-esque talking points Wicker is trying to push.

Personally, I’m tired of presumably well-off people that have their campaign websites hosted for free by GoDaddy.

The reality is that it’s people like Wicker who made the “health care debacle” a debacle. The GOP built opposition to reform on a mountain of lies, and they know it.

Wanna bet that Mr Yarmuth margin is still 17 points this year? Dream on!

HAHA. I love that folks believe Jeff Reetz or Larry Hausman could beat John Yarmuth.
Yarmuth is maybe the most popular he’s ever been right now.

I’ve known John for 30 years and he is the most honest and fair man I have ever encountered, and in politics, that just doesn’t happen. We are very lucky to be represented by him!

First, it wasn’t 17, it was 18 and then some. I counted every one of them. And Mr. Everett [my friend Mr. Everett, I presume], in all likelihood you are correct – the 18 points have evaporated somewhat. But, somewhat doesn’t equal anywhere near 18.
I am sure the Rs will tie their entire fall campaign to the president, since they have nothing of substance within their own ranks upon which to campaign. The Party of No, No, No hasn’t, doesn’t, nor will it offer any alternatives, only more shouts of No, No, No (and maybe an occasional You Lie!).
Fortunately, poll after poll after poll has always – for decades – shown that while people are often not happy with the President or the Congress in general (of either Party), they regularly give a bye when it comes to their own member of Congress. Just shouting No, No, No over and over, as the Senate Minority Leader does every Sunday on the talking-head programs, will not change that.
John’s hard work, both in Washington as a congressman, and when he returns home as a candidate, will guide the voters to re-elect him. Of that, I am sure.
