Rumor has it prosecutor Carol Cobb plans to throw her hat in the race for Commonwealth’s Attorney.
I’ve done a bit of calling around to various attorneys today and everyone seems to think she’s the real deal.
I mean, check out this info on the CA’s website:
On November 13, 2008, Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Carol Cobb became the first recipient of the Achievement in Excellence Award bestowed by the Women Lawyers Association (WLA) of Jefferson County at its Annual Meeting and luncheon. This award honors “an extraordinary attorney in our community who, over the years, has made significant contributions to the legal profession,” and is a role model for all practitioners of law, based on integrity and professionalism.
Ms. Cobb began her career at the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office in 1987 and recently retired as Chief of the award-winning Domestic Violence and Child Abuse Division. Among her many professional honors, she was named “Prosecutor of the Year” by citizen groups in 1991 and 1999. She has been much acclaimed for her trial skills, and her closing arguments are matched by few. Her empathy with victims was unmatched. Ms. Cobb served on numerous boards and committees, including the Executive Board of the WLA.
I haven’t kept up with that race too frequently but she seems like a serious candidate, should she actually jump in.
Thoughts?

This race is two years away.

Wouldn’t be the first time a candidate has started multiple years in advance.

Dave Stengel should step down this year and appointment someone else to fulfill the term. He is incompetent and should never seek public office again. When the dust settles Jake I would love to set down with you and give you some insight to the fiasco we call the CA’s office from first-hand conversations with Coach Stinson. He is too nice to ever publically rip anyone but someone has to let the city of Louisville know what wasteful government and malicious prosecution looks like.

Carol Cobb would be an outstanding CA. She’s the real deal.

So here’s the deal: I’ve received more email (positive) about Cobb in the last 24 hours than I have about any other candidate in months.

It’s my opinion that Dave Stengel is corrupt to the core. He should have been replaced and probably indicted years ago. Carol Cobb would be a breath of fresh air.

Care to elaborate?

It appears she thought the race was this year and wanted to run a flag up the pole to see who saluted. Those who did are as out of touch with political reality as is she, however qualified she may be. Someone went to the SOS webpage and saw there were people filing for Commonwealth’s Attorney here and there not knowing those were unexpired terms. But, let’s say she starts now, she would be a formidable opponent for Stengel when the race comes up in 2013.

Nope.
People have apparently been pushing her for months.
Everybody involved knows when the election is, apparently.

I would vote for Carol Cobb tomorrow, two years early. If not Carol Cobb, I would vote for Ryanne Conroy.

Carol Cobb would be a superb choice for the position, she’s done the time and knows the ropes!

Been censored. I would just challenge you Jake to look into a few of the things I posted. Just look at Leland Hulbert’s opening statement and see if they ever answered half the things he suggested. I would look at CPR certification and the sway that Leland tried to pull in court. Great switch and lousy research by the CA on this case.

Jesus. Give it a rest.
It should be clear by now that I don’t care about Stinson…?

You don’t care about government accountability? Dishonesty among government officials? Wasting your taxpayer dollars? It seems that you should care because most of your site goes directly against the evils of big government or does that only apply when it doesn’t include Coach Stinson? Just curious or is it the whole coach or organized sports issue? It doesn’t matter if you care about Stinson but you should care about elected officials that abuse their powers and waste your tax dollars. Who knows. You may be next if you write something that others don’t agree with or you cross into the realm of popular prosecutors. I would assume that someone who calls themself a investigative journalist would actually investigate without stating “I just don’t care.”

Read it again, holmes.
And the more you harp on it, the less seriously people take you.
Enough with the horse shit spin. If he was wronged? He was wronged.
Complain about it elsewhere.
I don’t call myself an investigative journalist – or a journalist in the least.
Move along.
