lets not forget the gang problem that plagued the southend in the early to mid 2000's there was Skreal on dixie from valley station thru prp to shively then there was Sylvania Lynch Mob off dixie then around the taylor blvd area there was DWB (dirty white boys) who was in a constant war with Skreal after a fight between the two left a DWB member in a coma and died years later after complications from the head injury. im not sure if its even a problem out there anymore but im assuming it hasnt gotten any better. thats exactly why i moved to the highlands, to get away from it. i wasted enough of my life fighting and selling drugs.

Again & Again it's the same old method at work!...Keep telling what you want people to think and eventually you can most of them to swallow what you're telling them!

I wish I could say that the above poster was wrong, but he is absolutely on point. They are so afraid that their numbers will look bad that they make sure that Burglary First Degrees are carried on the books as Criminal Trespass, unless of course, they solve it.

I will note, however, that there are gang members even in the areas mentioned, after all, it isn't like the top dogs want to live in the bad areas, either.

Realistically Louisville and Jefferson County Police Departments successfully addressed the gang issues in the mid to late 90's. Of course that reaction was because of a huge increase in homicides in '94. Since merger, gang issues have become "quietly" discussed with focuses being placed on community issues (call it out reach) that was misguided at best. After all GUN BUY BACK PROGRAMS do not work (there is actually a study or two that statistically prove it) and "basketball" programs don't reach to the real root of the problems...

And Louisville has failed entirely to address the increased Latino gang membership issue. In short LMPD and other agencies with in the county have failed. Largely because in "possibility city" it is not possible to have a problem, any problem; Those persons with problems are told to leave their problems at the door – thus no problem anymore. And because it was not “kosher” to bring up these issues with members of the command at LMPD HQ.

It is just like the fact that, while the chief brags of a decrease in violent crime, we actually have an increase… It is just how it is being reported and “cleared” in the computer system. To make matters worse there are rumors of members of the divisional commands “fixing” reports to make sure that the “numbers” don’t get out of whack… We cant have real crime reported after all.

Those are some random thoughts for ya'

Heck, ask people in Buechel, ask people in the south end, west end, Smoketown, downtown, Americana, Old Louisville. Basically ask everyone not in the Highlands, Eastgate or St. Mathews if we have a gang problem!

They know!
