It’s a good day to complain about Jerry Abramson, so, you know I’m going to do so.
From one of the state’s top political reporters on the responsibility of people like Jerry:
Board members are shocked of course and have already taken corrective action and, you know, it won’t happen again. Uh huh. Right.
Where have board members been and what were they thinking? Why don’t people on important boards with significant financial responsibility ask the chief executive or school superintendent hard, probing questions?
The KLC executive board members are mayors or city managers of member cities. They are responsible for those cities’ budgets and operations. If they are so comfortable with what they’re told by KLC staff, so comfortable they never ask questions, is it because that’s the way they operate their city governments?
Ronnie Ellis is not afraid to say what needs to be said.
Maybe some day our own local media won’t be afraid to say what needs to be said.

Can’t believe no ones cut loose yet!

above Right out of the report …..Hell it could be out of the mouths of babes!….It always seems these fools get away with diverting any responsibility and treat the wasted funds like it”s just a little spilled milk.
If you want to see some of them scream like the lil’ bitches they are…..just start docking them % of their salary and power based on their performance & production! It infurriates me the way the Mayor considers all the wasted money a non-issue . He’s so used to pissing away millions the KLC audit findings are like a hole in his pocket some change fell out of!
How can anyone in the State that has a brain not cringe at the thought of voting for him as Lt. GOV……When I think of the WASTE in all this goverment theft or misapporiation , whatever you want to call it, elected politicians should have to produce a surety bond to hold office!…

Jerry was busy figuring out ways to make the books look better than they really were. He was figuring out how to give away part of the city to Cordish and cover it up by having his 4 lackeys including David Tandy and Bruce Traughber flying out to Baltimore to sign the agreement which keeps Jerry out of trouble.
One of those political paybacks and lack of transparency issues. In light of that, Kelly Downard made a big issue of such largesse and government waste and again did so with the investigation by Crit Luallen regarding the Kentucky League of Cities.
However, Downard like most of the Metro Council forgets to fight for the common person at any other time and looking into the obvious cronyism that pervades politics in the town. One has to question the honesty and integrity of those in the Metro Council for the most part since they obviously could look into the issues but have chosen not to or have swept them under the rug.
One has to wonder what skeletons these people might be hiding or what does this Mayor and his staff know about many of them. Either way, one, they have no courage. Or two, they have something to hide.
Louisville deserves better than this Metro Council which should be able to investigate the Mayor and any of his departments. Why they are not asking the tough questions is beyond me because at this point, there needs to be a major transparency issue brought to light as well as personal and governmental accountability which is so lacking in the Louisville political scene.

There is a reason why the Metro Council doesn’t choose to investigate the Mayor’s financial ‘mess.’ Under the unfortunate litigation years ago involving Mayor Stansbury, the appellate court of Kentucky held that the then-Board of Aldermen did not have subpoena power permitting them to subpoena the Mayor or his staff or records. Highly unfortunate — and doubly concerning because the County Attorney needs to take an immediate declaratory action to the courts for the purposes of learning whether this 30 year old case authority governs the NEW Metro Council. Let’s get going, boys and girls There is a job to do, here for the public and it’s not being done.
When I was county attorney we attended to such actions, we contested LG&E rate increases for the public and addressed other such issues. Laziness has won the day, recently and it needs to be erased, quickly.
The Mayor needs to be subpoened and his testimony taken about A LOT OF ISSUES, including Cordish.

Hmm, let’s see — did the KLC board examine actual expenditures, or just totals on some spreadsheet? I guess that’s why I’m not on a board somewhere — I’d want to see the details.
But even at that, did no one ask why the staff was spending so much money on food and such? We’re not talking doughnuts on Friday here.
I guess people serving on boards, be it KLC, U of L, or KDP, just want to look over a financial summary for a few seconds then get on to the buffet. Same goes for Metro Council with budgets and construction bids.
Someone needs to learn the fine art of asking “and what are we getting for that?”

The arrogance of Mayor Abramson to even think that he is capable of being the Lt. Governor of this State is beyond comprehension. What is really happening in his mind is that he KNOWS that he can NEVER win a Democratic primary for Mayor after his miserable performance for the last several years. Consequently, he has no future here and couldn’t begin to practice law (in view of his lack of legal depth as evidence from his mayoral performance) so he latches onto a ’sinking’ Governor (who doesn’t need him to carry Louisville, anyway). Amazing. And Abramson’s selection will be the end of the Beshear Administration.
