Donorama Time: Give Blood to Save Lives

December 17th, 2009 by jake · 2 Comments

The 31st annual Donorama blood drive is bringing together 1,500 blood donors while will without a doubt give lifesaving gifts to patients in need.

So, drop what you’re doing, and get ready to give blood through the American Red Cross this holiday season.

31st Annual Louisville Donorama Blood Drive
Tues/Weds December 29th & 30th
Noon – 7:00 P.M.
Crown Plaza Hotel
830 Phillips Lane

If you show up and do the deed, you’ll receive a $10 gift certificate from Kentucky Fried Chicken, an official sponsor of the event. You’ll also be entered into drawings to win gas cards, pizza, Louisville Slugger goodies and UofL memorabilia.

“By donating blood at Donorama, you can help ensure a sufficient blood supply for patients as we start a new year,” said Linda Voss, CEO for the River Valley Blood Services Region. “We want to encourage all eligible blood donors in the area to schedule their Donorama appointments now.”

If you’ve been considering a donation or you give on a regular basis, there’s no better time to jump in. You’ll get a hot meal and refreshments and child care will be provided on-site. Visit the American Red Cross website for more details or call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (800-448-3543) to schedule an appointment.

I’d like to see every elected official (eligible to donate) in this city schedule an appointment by the end of the day. Will they do so?

I wouldn’t donate to the RedCross if it was the last charity on Earth. I’m surprised, as a gay man, you’re not onto the politics of this so-called charity.

Just because they’re bigoted and backwater doesn’t mean you can’t buck the system and just not disclose your sexual orientation.

And because I didn’t mention it doesn’t mean I’m not onto it.

I just happen to care a bit more about whether or not there’s a ready blood supply for those in need.

Salvation Army, on the other hand… now that’s some horse shit of a bigoted group.
