Audits, Losing, Loud Television Commercials: All the Important Things America Faces

December 17th, 2009 by jake · 4 Comments

Big News: The Kentucky League of Cities audit is out and I’ll have all the juicy details of the scandal for you later. Everything is embargoed until 10:00 A.M.

Rand Paul’s spokesperson is a satanic metal god in KKK gear. They have very serious faces. Klan attire. Those silly “Afro-Americans” just can’t appreciate a good Klan hoodie. [Barefoot & Progressive]

LMPD big dogs tell us Chief White was pushed to renounce Jim King’s gang unit proposal by the mayor himself. And how on earth will Metro Council Democrats pick between Tony Hyatt and Deborah Kent to be the next Caucus Director? Impossible choice. And poor Doug Hawkins. Nobody will let him act as crazy as he wants anymore. [LEO Weekly]

Dear Courier-Journal editorial board: Where, exactly, did Jim King indicate he’d use indigent care funds to pay for additional police patrols? And what planet are you living on when you don’t think the citizenry is concerned about an uptick in crime? You can hate on King all you want, but it’s time to do so only when you know what you’re talking about. I highly recommend you do a bit of polling before jumping to the awkward conclusion that reinstating the gang unit is bad news bears… because added police protection is what about 80% of the community wants ASAP. [C-J]

Couldn’t make this up if I tried: Daniel Mongiardo thinks loud television commercials are one of the biggest problems facing the country. He just doesn’t care for those annoying commercials. [Page One]

That fancy Churchill Downs ticket sale that was supposed to happen yesterday at noon? Yeah, the poverty killed it, too, and then we all froze from these frigid temps. [C-J]

Loserville 2009! A eulogy for a year that had so much potential. [More from LEO]

The University of Louisville clearly did not feel sorry that world-renowned bigot Oral Roberts died and beat that awful team like woah! [WHAS11 Sports]

You know, it’s interesting that the local archbishop has all this free time and money to spend fighting the scary gay marriage. Because there clearly aren’t more important issues facing his congregation. Gays and abortion. The only two things Jesus cared about, right? [C-J]

Clear choice is Kent, years of positioning candidates and policy wonk jobs make her the best for this job. With Hyatt handling media, it would be a great team.

    I tend to agree.

Just so long as Tony doesn’t have a public melt down when someone suggests he be paid commensurate (more) with his experience.

I don’t know much about Tony Hyatt, but Deborah Kent has been involved in state and local Democratic politics since she was in high school and I can’t imagine anyone more qualified. She’s a strategic thinker with a powerful ethic, and if there’s something about democratic policy she doesn’t know, it’s not worth knowing. Every conversation is a history lesson. Snap her up!

Jake, if White bowwed to pressure by McCheese, I will make sure this is hung around the necks of both his honor and Gov. Beshear! Maybe Jerry should hang around in the old Bashford Manor area. Just now, a gang of six middle schoolers were harassing home owners, pedsitains (including me) and shouting profanities to everyone in earshot. Not saying they are in a gang now, but it starts somewhere. And a anti-gang unit means Mayor and Chief are serious about crime.

If gang violnce is shown to go up, what do you think people down in the state would think? That Jerry can’t keep his own backyard in order, what will he do with the rest of the state.

I’m sorry for going long, but enough is enough. It’s a war zone out here, Mr. Mayor. DO YOUR JOB!
