Rep. John Yarmuth responded to Mitch McConnell’s flat-out lies about health care reform:
This weekend, my Senator and Constituent, Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, made a statement on the floor of the Senate that was, quite frankly, remarkable. It was special not because it was passionately-delivered or because it was well-constructed, but because it so perfectly illuminated just how disconnected from reality the Senate’s opponents of health care reform are[…]
The Minority Leader has read the same polls I have. I would venture to say that he’s heard from many of the thousands of Louisvillians who I’ve gotten calls, letters, emails, faxes, and visits. Everywhere I go in Louisville— from the VA Hospital to community cookouts to the aisles of Kroger—I hear from people with valid perspectives on both sides of the debate. And we were elected to listen to all of them. […]
But Senator, you don’t have to take my word for it, and I won’t ask you to go searching through all of your old mail. If you’re listening, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce you to a few of your constituents and mine; yes—your fellow Kentuckians. Then, maybe next time you exert your considerable power to stop something that you know is of vital importance to many of your constituents, you’ll take time to consider their views as well[…]
Senator McConnell, these are your constituents – yours and mine, and they are Americans. They are deserving of your attention, and not your scorn.
Where are the rest of Kentucky’s elected officials on this matter?

Thank you Congressman Yarmuth. The GOP likes to pretend they aren’t hearing from most of us who want true reform, but the reality is that they’re only listening to their most radical right-wing constituents and shutting the rest of us out.

“Go John, Down with Mitch”
Thanks, John, for bringing some humanity to the Congress. I wonder if Mitch or his aides read the horrible health insurance email messages they must receive daily. Mitch has a heart of stone, and his forehead is painted with a fat $-sign that reads: I’ll kiss any corporate ass that gives me big bucks.

…is leading the standing ovation for Representative John Yarmuth…a true public servant who donates his entire congressional salary to charities and is not afraid to speak his mind, and for many of us, the Kentuckians he represents.
Mitch “Howdy Doody” McConnell is so out of touch with reality, and his only interests are as follows: increasing his own wealth, hanging on to the power he thinks he still has, blocking any progresssive leadership in Washington, pulling the Republican strings in Kentucky politics and last but not least, avoiding us, the common Kentuckians is he supposed to listen to and represent !
Thank you John for serving all of us in Kentucky…may you continue to be blessed during this special time of year.

“Mitch Answers Only to Fat Coffers”
fleur, unless you had $-signs all over your letter, there was no way that Mitch, High Priest of KY Rich Pork, was going to respond to you. Next time sign it “CEO of Humana.”
