Wow, so, interesting story… After Chris Sanders & Swift spent a few weeks telling the entirety of Louisville that the Butchertown neighborhood is a bunch of racists? One of Swift’s employees is now claiming that he was wrongfully terminated because – get this – he dared report racial discrimination after allegedly being called the “n-word” by a co-worker.
Check this complaint recently filed in Jefferson Circuit Court:
Comes the Plaintiff, Demetrius Reid (hereinafter “Reid” or “Plaintiff”), and for his Complaint against the Defendant, Swift Pork Company (hereinafter “Swift Pork” or “Defendant”), states as follows:
-SNIP-
During his employment, Reid was subjected to racially discriminatory remarks, including the “n” word.
Reid complained and reported the racial harassment to the Company, but no action was taken to prevent further racial remarks.
When Reid’s co-worker continued to call Reid the “n” word, Reid demanded that the co-worker stop calling him that.
The Company discharged Reid and not Reid’s co-worker.
CLAIMS AND CAUSES OF ACTION VIOLATIONS OF THE KENTUCKY CIVIL RIGHTS ACT -SNIP-
Swift Pork terminated Reid’s employment in retaliation for complaining about race discrimination.
Swift Pork failed to adequately investigate Reid’s complaint of discrimination.
Swift Pork failed to take prompt remedial action to prevent further racial harassment of Reid.
Swift Pork’s actions and inaction constitute violations of the Kentucky Civil Rights Act, KRS Chapter 344 et. seq.
Reid is asking for a jury trial and compensatory damages for lost wages, emotional distress, mental anguish, humiliation and embarrassment.
Should be an interesting case to watch play out.

The stupid thing is that they should have kept Reid and gotten rid of the co worker since obviously the guy had a problem.
