What? You’re shocked that Jerry Abramson is attempting to white wash the myriad scandals at Metro Animal Services?
And since Meloche resigned amid allegations of sexual harassment, civil rights abuses, needless cat torturing and generally running the shelter, meteor-like, into the ground, the impetus for the mayor to move forward from this stinking mess without answering any pesky, lingering questions has been unyielding. Meloche, whose resignation is effective Dec. 31, hasn’t given any interviews and was not present for that afternoon’s troop rallying, perhaps for obvious, bummer-inducing reasons. The assistant director of community relations, Jackie Gulbe, was not available for comment either, despite her office being located in the aforementioned yellow trailer. The same goes for Zelinsky.
Which made it all the more pertinent, then, to try and get some answers directly from Abramson, who showed up a good 15 minutes late to the event in a black sport utility vehicle, said his piece to the faithful, and then gave us media about 10 minutes to address three years’ worth of Melochian errors.
“They liked it when I called you ‘sons a bitches,’” Abramson joked while strolling down the wooden ramp, talking about how he referred to the press during his address inside the trailer. “No, I’m just kidding … actually, I’m not.”

Perhaps most egregious was the mayor’s adherence to Meloche’s abilities as a “change agent,” which is technically true, yet omits the fact that much of that change was detrimental to the lives and well being of humans and animals alike.

Abramson thanked us, slapped me very hard on the back, and leapt into his SUV, leaving the same unanswered questions created in Meloche’s wake.

It’ll be a cold day in hell before Jerry Abramson takes responsibility for anything. He thinks issues like this can be laughed off and ignored. Unfortunately for him, the sleeping giant of everybody in the whole damn city has woken up.
And, yes, this is the guy who thinks he’s worthy of being the next Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Uh, doesn’t all of this mean he is a perfect candidate for Lt Gov? It isn’t as though the bar is set real high. Just ask Steve Henry, and Saddam’s son.

How about letting Zelinsky, who is also named in two major lawsuits along with his mentor, Dr. Meloche, in charge?
Everything’s different, but nothing’s changed. You still have a guy implicated in employee harassment and the violation of citizen’s civil rights leading the F-Troops!
And, from what the TV news stories disclosed, although Lil’ Wayne’s been in charge for weeks, the place is still a stinking mess with animals in desperate need of care.
Where are those villagers with pitchforks and flaming torches when you need them?

The Aloof attitude of the Mayor is unacceptable!….If the C-J and the Media had any guts …they would camp out on the Mayors steps and demand answers .
The Metro Council should STOP everything dead in the tracks and DEMAND that the Mayor address the Council about these issues!…..The Mayor should be Charged with hiring someone that wasn’t even qualified to be a canidate for the position….Isn’t there some criminal charges that attach to such an action like that when someone like the Mayor breaks the law doing what he did!?…..How Long can Jerry be the Teflon Mayor…..What about the “Gay Love” comment from Meloche?….Is He Jerrys Boyfriend?….Is that why he got the position?

Abramson’s arrogance is astounding

To define yourself a success as a result of
adoption rates while filtering out the shocking
conditions the animals are forced to endure is a form of compartmentalization that rings of one helluva narcissist. All’s well that…what exactly, Jerry?
What planet are you on?
Ah, those back-slapping elected officials who take pride in their ‘certainty’ and are ‘above’
making mistakes…
The Mayor got us a change agent – who cares
what happened next!
Disgraced, pride parades itself
before the fool falls.
Vanity is a cruel bitch!
(Just WAIT ’til your next life, buster!!)

An incompetent manager at animal services is small potatoes. Jerry’s been great for this city. I think the airport expansion will be his biggest achievement. He promoted our city well at the national level too. I know most of you hate him, but Mayor King will make u guys miss Jerry. Mark my words.

If you remember correctly, Abramson distanced himself from the Louisville Airport Improvement Project at every turn unless it was a ribbon cutting. The heavy lifting was done by the Corradino Group, the Board and Management of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority and the project team. Jerry avoided the project like venereal disease because it was difficult, it was in many quarters unpopular and it involved a lot of heavy lifting. He’d like credit for it now, but it was the dedicated people who made a 20 year commitment to doing something big.
He knows how to announce projects and cut ribbons. You can tell the ones in which he had a personal involvement. They’re the ones that are AFU….Cordish, the animal shelter, community development, building the wharf for the floating resturant that floated away leaving us holding the bag, closing the incinerator so that we could stack garbage on one of the most strategically important pieces of land by the airport. That’s his filthy legacy.

MIRV888: Madeline, stop apologizing for your husband! And, if you think a bad animal director is “small potatoes” just wait to see what the coming shit-storm of lawsuits is going to cost this burg!
Of course, since Jerry hates bad press as much as having to answer for his arrogant actions, I’m sure he’ll be ordering his toadies down at the Co. Atty’s office to bribe…uh, I mean settle…with the plaintiffs rather than have a nasty mess following him around whilst campaigning to become Lt. Gov.
