That’s right – a sane dialogue about health care. Right here in the big city of Louisville.
The Louisville Science center, in conjunction with University of Louisville faculty, will host the conversation next Thursday, November 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Science Center, located at 727 West Main. It’s part of (the first) a series of after-hours discussions about timely science topics called “Scientific Proofs.” Dr. Adewale Troutman, Director of Public Health for our local gubmint (also a Science Center board member) will lead the talk.
The panel will include:
- Michael Muldoon – executive director of Health Enterprises Network. He’s the former owner of Managed Healthcare Business Development Consulting, where he worked with Passport and Anthem. Also the former director of two Humana managed care plans in Virginia in Florida.
- William Wagner – executive director of Family Health Centers, Inc., a non-profit established by the Board of Health in 1976 to assure area residents have access to health care regardless of ability to pay.
- Nici Gaines – Associate Vice President of University Health Care, Inc. She’s the former director of the Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program and served as director of pharmacy operations for Medicaid Services.
- Richard Wilson – chairman of the Department of Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Louisville.
- Elizabeth North – director of reimbursement for Baptist Hospital East. She’s formerly a hospital contracting executive at Humana and worked for United Healthcare.
The program is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Advance reservations are required. To make your reservation, call 502.560.7130 or email jenna.spear@louisvilleky.gov. A cash bar will be available.
Interesting insider background: Dr. Troutman was a public proponent of a single-payer system until Mayor McCheese jumped his butt, pointing out that one of our largest employers is Humana. Dr. Troutman had written an op-ed for the Courier-Journal and Daddy Jerry went batshiz insane over it.

Rick Redding was an original founder of this website.
