Due to last-minute travel plans, posting is gonna be a bit light through tomorrow afternoon.
Life happens, right?
So let’s use this open thread opportunity to discuss what you think needs to improve in Louisville.
What’s the most urgent need of your immediate community or neighborhood?
Please keep it mostly clean, avoid personal attacks and let’s maybe keep the partisanship out of it for a change.

As long as they are studying 2-way streets downtown, why don’t they look into Bardstown Roading the 2nd Street Bridge? You know, three lanes south in the morning, three north in the afternoon. Unlike B’town Rd., there’s no turning lanes or on-street parking. Thoughts?

I know this will be moderated out, as usual. But when a new mayor is seated, he needs to order a top to bottom, head to toe audit of metro Louisville! All departments, books are checked. And anything hinky and people go to jail. REGARDLESS OF PARTY!
Then do the same with JCPS!
As Jack Nicholas said in Batman, “this town needs a e^@ma!”

How about investing some money into the South and West End. I know the majority of money flows to the East, but these are two parts of town that have been neglected for years.

Germantown could use a community center with amenities for stunt skating, skateboarding, biking, & sledding. But that would require an appropriate venue & great expenditures — and Sojourn church now occupies the most suitable location.
But how about some things that require little moolah – like EDUCATING residents on, then ENFORCING, the necessity of clearing the storm drain(s) that borders YOUR property; NOT putting out “junk” or regular trash in the alley UNTIL right before collection; keeping your recycle bin, trash can, & yard waste container well up into your own yard until set-out time; cleaning or repainting over graffiti immediately; clearing leaves, grass, dirt, & trash from your curb regularly; removing dead or broken tree limbs in a timely manner — small tasks that if left undone spoil the quality of life for an entire neighborhood. Many of these items are already code violations, but seldom enforced even though the paid inspectors drive past them every day. I honestly think there are some residents who DON’T KNOW their own role in keeping a community presentable. They need to be TOLD with a knock on their door or a flier stuffed into their hands or a barrage of Public Service Announcements on ALL the networks & radio stations.
(Have I vented enough?)

I think light rail in Louisville would be a huge benefit. From Prospect, Shepherdsville, Portland and the West end. Iclude the malls, UPS, obviously downtown business district, UofL and the medical campus.
