If you haven’t checked out the hilarious “Save KY’s Christmas Tree – We do not want a Holiday Tree!” Facebook group, you’re missing out. Pure hilarity. The echo of the Mapplethorpe and Larry Flynt controversies along with memories of Marge Schott and wing nut talker Bill Cunningham make me wonder how the hedonistic undertone of 21C will fly in Cincinnati. I’ve heard that the city is trying to shake what some say is an undeserved regressive image, and that most of the knuckle-draggers live in the suburbs. Guess we’ll know if they show up with placards and guns at the first 21C pajama party.

The funny thing about “Christmas” trees. They pre-date Christ. Look it up kiddies.

What we need is a Christmas Shrubbery.
Not a tall skinny one, but a little flat bushy one, with a little part in the middle.

Steve is correct. The origin of the celebration of Christmas trees is in “pagan” Germanic Gaul. In fact, in the mid 1800′s, Christians sought to ban the darn things.

After all, isn’t that regressive city supposedly the home of the Republican Leader in the US House, Sir John Bohner, errr Boehner. I’m surprised they don’t stage another tea party about something even something as interesting as 21c. If the Teabaggers had their way, we would all be living in huts and practicing agriculture.
