Dawne’s surgery went well and she’s going to talk about it Wednesday on WAVE 3 News.

I can tell you that foreclosures have really spiked on churches. There is a perfect storm where many churches took on a tremendous amount of debt in the real estate boom years trying to keep up with the Jones’. Many times, the congregations’ desire to have expanded amenities were greater than their ability to pay for them.

To makes things worse, traditionally banks did not foreclosure on churches because it was bad publicity and you never know who attends that church that has deposits in your bank. Unfortunately, the unintended consequence of the Government forcing banks to tighten up their book, is that the banks now are being forced to foreclose or have been given the political cover to do so.

It’s a really emotional and devastating process for the parishioners, but I can tell you for every church that just couldn’t legitimately make it work because of lower weekly offerings and a bad economy, there are five who aren’t making it because they were fiscally irresponsible or their pastor is showing up to meet me in a 7 Series BMW.

I’m not personally religious, but it really pains me to see these parishioners lose their place of worship.

Jake and TV Guy – Thank you for the Dawne Gee info. I did not know that she was having surgery and I am so very glad to hear that it went well. She is a blessing to our community

Southeast Easter Pageant – I am not a member of Southeast but, the reason I heard the pageant was cancelled was that they felt the monies would be better spent on helping folks in the community that are being hurt by the present state of the economy.

You mean SECC and other churches have to evolve or die off? Why do I find that amusing? Perhaps they can stop being “tolerent” of other Christians and raid a Catholic Church. I understand they hide the money in their evil statues.

    Er…. Tolerant.
