Possibility City of Metro Animal Services Mess

So, ladies and dudes, get ready. We hear through the media grapevine that WLKY is set to air another exclusive interview with Dr. Kendall Clay tonight at 6:00 P.M.

Clay is a contract veterinarian who used to work for Metro Animal Services. So far an audit bomb as been dropped, triple sexual harassment has been revealed.

What’s next?

Guess we’ll all be tuning in to find out. God. What a hot mess.

  1. In his Jan 12, 2009 memo/Written Reprimand concerning Dawn Simpson William E. Summers, IV, Deputy Mayor and head of Public Services told Meloche that “Any further infractions will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.”

Sounds like we have further infractions going on here and it’s time for Summers to put his money where his mouth is.

Soon after Meloche came to MAS it was transferred from Public Works to Public Services and under the watchful eye of the Deputy Mayor.

Just wondering why that letter came from Summers instead of Human Resources.

Does local media watch for Human Resources letters of reprimand and findings on charges? Why wasn’t this reprimand reported by media until an article appeared on The Ville Voice blog in August of this year?

Inquiring minds want to know. And above all, inquiring minds want to know why it is taking so long to get rid of this plague on Louisville’s pets, their owners, MAS employees and Metro Council when it only took Durham, NC 10 months to fire him and Tallahassee, FL 18 months to force him out.

There has to be a reason. Who’s protecting Meloche and why? Does that goat have a sister?

  2. I recently donated some supplies and food to Metro for the animals. With winter coming on they are in dire need of old blankets or rugs. I only hope that those of us who trully care about animals being treated in a humane way will get on the phone and demand that Abramson hold this incompetent piece of scum accountable for his cruel practices and fire him immediately. It is apparent that he has gone way beyond the warning he got back in January. What is he holding over Abramson’s head that Abramson won’t even comment on it much less get rid of him????

  3. Even good administrations make hiring mistakes. The question is what do you do about it, and when.

You do the investigation, you build your case, then if it doesn’t change you pull the trigger and fire the person. And sometimes, actions are so egregious that you compress the whole process down to a few days, or even a few hours. I’ve seen people fired before lunch for posting something inappropriate on a web site.

There seems to be little doubt as to the breadth or depth of this man’s problems. Why the delay? Perhaps someone is trying to save political face by pretending all is well? Or is it just inertia, or laziness, or incompetence, or burnout? Or all of the above?

Guess what, Present Administration — you’ve got a public-relations disaster on your hands. This is CNN-Exclusive stuff. If you don’t take action and get in front of this, you’re going to have a 60 Minutes news crew outside your office. Better take your feet off the desk and actually try to do your job.

  4. Former LMAS employee Richard Price once bragged that Meloche would never get fired because he “knew too much” about Jerry Abramson.

Only one question remains: is that goat a nanny or a billy?

  5. It seems odd that Jerry has not solved this problem. He is in a Beshear ordered house cleaning mode, He made Peace with the firefighters and he fired Bill Schreck before his criminal investigation comes to light.

This must be a hell of a goat!

PS I thought Richard Price Sr was back working at LMAS?
