WHAS-TV spent most of its Noon newscast promoting a Renee Murphy interview with Jerry Abramson, part of the station’s “Ask the Mayor” segment. That station wants viewers to contribute questions for Jerry. The promotion touted the fact that the station planned to ask the Mayor about the Cordish controversy.
Of course, this was live TV. And Jerry’s not really going to answer any tough questions. Not in a 3-minute segment.
Murphy started off with a softball about the Lt. Governor race, to which the Mayor rambled on about his focus on economic development and his relationships with officials in Washington. From there, he talked about FEMA, with Murphy attempting to interrupt with a meatier question.
Just as Murphy was ready to change the subject, though, Abramson interrupted so that he could continue rambling about FEMA.
Sadly, Murphy was out of time. She told the Mayor she had some other questions, which would have to wait. Viewers didn’t get what they were promised. And the Mayor escaped the uncomfortable.
