On the front of the application there was a box that said" For positions which require 'Peace Officer Status' Only; check 21 or older -yes-no; U.S. Citizen- yes - no. " Meloche left this blank. On the last page of the application above the signature it clearly states" I certify under penalty of law, that the information given in this application is correct and complete to the best of my knowledge. I am aware that, should investigation at any time show falsification, I will not be eligible for employment, and if already employed, subject to termination". So much for applications. To add insult to injury Meloche went before Judge Audra Eckerly (sp) and took an oath to become a state peace officer- a position he held for over a year. Only when ,during a deposition, he was asked whether he was a peace officer and was asked to present documentation and he further said that he was not a U.S. citizen did someone tell him he better resign that position. That however, does not change the fact that he knew or should have known that he did not qualify as a state peace officer on at least two grounds and that he was not eligible to take an oath. Jerry should never have hired him based upon this initial omission. Once hired, he could have easily fired him. The big question is WH Y? I think EdenSprings is on to something.
