Here’s some more bad news for Jerry Abramson resulting from his poorer, blacker, older comment in West Virginia. Looks like the Mayor has now pissed off some of his West End constituency. State reps Reginald Meeks and Darryl Owens have released this joint statement:
“Finally, the truth.
Our community was sold the idea of merging city and county governments as being an economically efficient way to better manage services, promote economic development and address growing fiscal problems.
After numerous failed attempts, the claim that by combining city and county departments and reducing duplicate services we would create a stronger, more effectively managed metropolitan community was touted as being the reason to merge the two governments.
None of this has proven to be true and we are outraged at the duplicity exhibited by Mayor Jerry Abramson in West Virginia last week.
At the time, we vehemently opposed merger because we saw the measure for what it really was – a means to abandon the poor, old, and yes, Black population in our inner city.
The mayor always denied our claims, continuing to push economic opportunity as his impetus to merge our two governments.
The ugly truth was revealed last week when the mayor told an audience in West Virginia the reason for merger was we were getting older, Blacker and poorer.
Mr. Mayor, the fact is this is true, so why apologize?

What was the question to Mayor Jerry’s response? All I’ve heard is that it had something to do about demographics.

Its terrific that these guys finally saw through what a puke that Jerry Abramson really is. It only showed that his only real interest in Merger was to pronounce himself the king. And as the TV and media put it, the Mayor for Life. Now the Mayor For Life has a conundrum on his hands that a great deal of his population is tired of him and doing a small mutiny. They have had it with his piddling and foolish ways much less his corruption. Now we just have to convince the majority of them to throw the bum out. This next election is key to the future of this city that we have to get someone that is a political outsider as mayor. At least someone who isn’t a corrupt crony on the Metro Council. The current Metro Council has been overtaken by flakes and other brain dead worshipers of the Mayor. Even a lot of the Republicans are the same outside of Hawkins, Downard, and a couple of others. Sad but true that none of these people are calling anything out but just going along to get along.
