Yeah, seems like Louisville is doing a great job of supporting the less fortunate. The powers that be can't even keep money inside the city, which seems like it would be pretty easy to do (i.e.: slots, local contractors for the arena, etc.), and we are to expect them to serve the indigent?

As far as overwhelming local services like EMS, the fire department, and LMPD, you can look to the incompetence and criminality of the healthcare systems here in Louisville. Wayside Christian Mission is a dumping ground for uninsured people on their last leg who need proper medical treatment (U of L being the worst about this).

So, we have an incompetent city government and a healthcare system that will not properly treat the indigent and casts them off to die. Hrrm...doesn't seem like they would be better off.

Anyway, it was a nice thought Mike.

Col, it's not hard to imagine at all...they'd be better. The magnet of Wayside drawing in folks from all over the country would no longer be a factor. Louisville could take care of its less fortunate citizens and not overwhelm local services - just check with EMS, Fire and LMPD for how many runs are made daily to Wayside.

Piper,

Reporting means checking your facts. All it took for me to find out that this story was bunk was calling Wayside and speaking with Reverend Moseley, then calling the Antique Mall and speaking with Denise Golden. Wow, maybe I have a shot at being a reporter too!

You ask of my connection to Wayside, Piper? I am an avid supporter of the cause. I volunteer my time at Wayside Christian Mission and I believe that they are an absolutely necessary service in this city. Try to imagine what your city streets would be like without them.

Reporting from one source isn't "making things up". And let's be honest here, Colonel88 has an axe to grind with anyone that mentions anything about Wayside in less than glowing terms. What is your connection with Wayside, Colonel?

Excellent reporting there, Ville Voice! You might want to check with both of the sources before you go making things up. I would like to extend the same sentiment to Metro Government as well. Reporting at its best!

I wish someone would let me in on these "negotiations". This is a rumor, but sounds like a great idea to me!
