Good News for Political Reporters: Gatewood Galbraith filed paperwork to run for Governor in 2011, assuring reporters bored with Beshear and whoever runs against him of a little entertainment on the campaign trail. If only voters would listen to the guy. [Fat Lip]
You’ll Read it Here: The C-J’s David Hawpe, responding to rumors that he’s retiring as early as next month, said that when he does so he’ll announce it in a column in the paper (and not to some blogger like me). Several sources tell us that column will run in August.
C-J Names Out of the News: Nothing official, but word is that the C-J cuts in the newsroom were lighter than many expected. Gone (voluntarily) is Judy Edgerton, the film and theater critic (maybe we’ll pick up the slack there). Here’s a list posted at LEO. [Fat Lip]
Listening Tour: President Obama won’t be here, but he’s organized a Listening Tour of America which includes four stops in Kentucky — tonight in Elizabethtown, Saturday in Henderson and Owensboro, Sunday in Bowling Green. The topic: health care. [H-L]
Did You Hear the Billboard?: UK is experimenting with billboards that play the school’s fight song when you’re close enough and have your radio on the right station. Not sure I get that one. [UK Athletics]
Getting Well: Patti Clare of the Downtown Development Corp., who fell in that tragic accident at the Fort Nelson building last spring, is back on a part-time schedule at work as of today. We wish her well.

Will we see another increase in the number of Metro Government spokesmen?

If you had a delete button, I probably would have just used it.

Can someone please explain to me why that billboard is not a waste of money that could be used to increase the scholarship fund of non-revenue sports (or perhaps, the ordinary UK student)?

Not that many political reporters left to rejoice at Gatewood’s decision…
