But Did Sypher Get Any Dates Out of It?

July 8th, 2009 by admin · 6 Comments

Remember, folks, that sweeps didn’t start until this week. That’s one explanation why WHAS-TV waited until last night to update the story we’ve been reporting on Karen Cunagin Sypher. You know, the one about the profile on Sugardaddie.com and the fact that she’s selling her house.

Melanie Kahn reported that she spent “several hours” talking with Sypher, who is awaiting trial on charges of lying to the FBI and extortion of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino. Sypher says the whole Sugardaddie profile thing was a project done by those darn kids of hers who want to get Mom out of the house with another rich man. Sypher claims she doesn’t even have a laptop, and that it was “a big laugh” for the family. Right.

She also reveals that the family has no income and can’t afford the house, so she’s selling.

We’re not going to make a big deal of WHAS-TV’s headline: “WHAS11 Uncovers Dating Website Profile of Woman Accused of Extorting Pitino” even though we uncovered it 10 days ago. There’s been some discussion here about whether the profile was legit, and we now know it was, sort of. Sypher didn’t say it was done without her knowledge, just that she didn’t do it.

But why didn’t Kahn ask if the ad had gotten any response?  Or bring up her comments in the AP story in which she said she never went anywhere except to Mass and school to pick up her kids. Or ask if Sypher’s been on any dates? Or ask about being seen out on the town drinking?

Sypher said she and the kids all had a big laugh over the dating profile. They’re giving local newswatchers some pretty big laughs too.

“But why didn’t Kahn ask if the ad had gotten any response?”

Rick, you are expecting too much from our local TV “journalists”. These stations hire their reporters right out of college and it shows.

I’m sure we’re all familiar with what “sugar daddies” are — and the kinds of quid pro quos that their “relationships” with the “perfect man” entail.

Consequently, what kind of mother permits any of her kids to visit such a website, much less profile her on it? I suspect Ms. Sypher is lying through her ruby-red lips.

I didn’t see Melanie Kahn’s interview , but I can bet she didn’t ask perhaps the most relevant questions of all: Is it okay for a person to trade sex for money? Sex for items of value?

Is is okay to demand money and items of value from a married person under threat of exposure?

Is it okay to trade sex for assistance in such an extortion plot?

What, if any, are the limits-of-exchange for sex in non-romantic relationships?

Maybe it’s okay for two people to use each other in any way they negotiate, but I would like to know Ms. Sypher’s opinions on these confusing issues.

    Perhaps her children would too.

Addendum: 1st sentence should read, “… relationships with women or men entail.”

Sorry for the confusion; I need coffee.

Wow. I’m not sure where to begin, but to point out that she has obviously taught her kids that if you can’t extort someone out of enough money to live a “normal lifestyle,” you should pimp your mother out to a wealthy man who can provide it for you instead.

I’ve heard of parents pimping their young daughters out to wealthy men, but if true, this is a case of the kids pimping their mother out in hopes of financial gain.

I still hold steadfast in the belief that you should run from any woman who has crazy eyes (defined as eyes that are wide enough to see the whites of the sclera above the top of the iris – See the Run-Away Bride, etc.).
