Couldn’t agree more with the argument that Valhalla needs to have more teeth in hosting a Major. Though, to be fair, the PGA is not the US Open…nor is it hardly ever set up like one. Actually, since 1990 the winner of the PGA Championship has been under par by double-digits 11 times, and -15 or better four times so Valhalla fits the mold for this particular major just fine.

Eddieboy’s right. There were 45 golfers under par in 2000; eighteen under got you into a playoff. Valhalla’s a very nice course, but majors don’t play to -18.

Yeah, except for the fact that no one outside of Louisville and the PGA of America considers Valhalla to be a major championship caliber course.
No offense to the fine citizens of Kentucky, but this is another money grab by the PGA, which loves sending these events to PGA-owned venues.
