The Clock is Ticking Edition

Next Up for Mayor: According to LEO, David Tandy and Jim King are the frontrunners to succeed Jerry Abramson as Mayor, should he decide (and we think he will) to step down rather than run for another term. There is no rule that says you have to be on the Metro Council to run for mayor, and our next one won’t come from there. [LEO]

Told You Not to Trust Him: Shelly Berman, the JCPS supe, was not telling the whole story about his dealings with an organization called Virtual High School, when he told us there was nothing fishy going on. Au contraire. Check it out. [Page One]

Still, Don’t Get Your Hopes Up: Slots legislation made it out of a House committee today, but still needs to get through the full House and then the Senate. It passed 19-9, but in the Senate, things aren’t likely to go so well. [Courier]

Loop Details: That Louisville Loop project could actually happen. On June 27, Metro Parks is talking publicly about the progress at the Farnsley-Moreman Landing, from 10 to 1. You should ride your bike downt there.

We’re In for a Bourbon Anything: Laugh at will at LEO’s take on the organization of a Bourbon Caucus. No joking. Wonders of Photoshop. John Yarmuth and Brett Guthrie are heading it up. [Fat Lip]

Inside Bit..I Mean Mitch: John David Dyche is touting his book on Sen. Mitch McConnell, including this interview on WHAS-TV, and another one scheduled for KET Sunday. Dyche says Mitch won’t be pleased with everything in the book, called “Republican Leader“. [WHAS-TV]

Name from the Past: It was nice to see Don Schroeder’s name pop up as author of a comment on the weather on a Ville Voice post. Good to know the former Fox41 anchor, now living in Alabama, is keeping up with us. [V.V.]

Where We Gonna Put that Clock? Now that they’ve put the Derby Clock back together again, where should they put it? Suggestions? [Fox41]

I hear King , Tandy & Flood have a plan to beat Jerry in the primary if he runs.

I’m curious. What is the plan, bill? Does the plan involve Flood’s husband? I think I’d rather have Jerry as mayor than either of the Floods. Perhaps that’s the plan — to split up the “I want to vote for someone in it for personal gain” vote. I feel sorry for you democrats if that’s all your choices for mayor. Whatever happened to Dave Armstrong anyway?

As far as the clock is concerned, I vote for that open area south of the Aegon building across from the Convention Center.

I say we give the clock to Cordish for a centerpiece in Baltimore! Jerry can give them a couple of million to move it.

Seriously, Adam Burckle did a fine job of restoring that clock. I think it should go to the zoo where it will be in a protected environment. Adam has already donated the Merry-go-round to the zoo and it is one of his favorite charities.

If downtown maybe next to the 444 building on the old founders square location. Maybe we could add loud bells and whistles that would keep Charles Cash and Bill Schreck annoyed all day…..

Tandy & Flood split Jerry’s base for King. Dave Armstrong is happy to be out, and bad physical shape I hear.

Clock: behind Aegon Center would be good — on way to 4th Street Live AND across from Conv Center.

If we put it in front of the Arena, perhaps we could put likenesses of recruits racing — only when they visit, of course. (Is that a secondary violation?)

I think we should place the clock in a new museum that can be developed on the site of what is unlikely going to be Museum Plaza.

The museum can be dedicated to Louisville items of interest that never worked or were just bad ideas. We can house the clock in a display next to the Falls Fountain, the downtown LOUISVILLE sign that wasn’t, and the Star of Louisville.

Seriously, it should be housed indoors to cut down on the historically $20k year maintenance costs. Given the height and size, that limits the options. It would be nice to place it in an atrium in the convention center or some place that services visitors.

Putting it in front of the Arena is appropriate. The clock has always had a home in locations destined for failure (River City Mall, Galleria, etc.).

Rename it the Barney Bright Bellwether Clock.

Phuck a bunch of Photoshop. MS Paint, FTW.

Tear Down City Block and put in there,..along with another parking garage to servuce the arena and the downtown area. A monster parking garage there with the access to the interstate for ingress & egress is the best downtown.
They could change the name to “City Clock Block”…..
