The Arena Authority hired its law firm, Frost, Brown, Todd, to investigate allegations of unsafe practices on the construction site shortly after the accident that occurred April 27.
The law firm conducted its investigation, then offered up its report. It came up with five paragraphs, centered around claims made by a worker named Charlie Molen. The report came to light today, and it’s pretty obvious from reports by WHAS-TV and the C-J that the law firm didn’t find it necessary to interview Molen, the worker making the charge who was fired shortly after doing a WHAS-TV interview.
The report spent one of those paragraphs disparaging Mr. Molen’s motives for speaking to the media, claiming that he was running for a union office and trying to make a name for himself. But it NEVER EVEN BOTHERED TO INTERVIEW MOLEN ABOUT IT.
Worse, the C-J reports that the arena authority originally resisted making the report public, releasing it only after an open records request. And FBT’s Ed Glasscock is still refusing to elaborate on how the law firm’s investigation was conducted or who it interviewed, because, he said, it was afraid of media scrutiny.
Can someone enroll Glasscock in a media relations course? Statements like that one only serve to invite media scrutiny.

Sounds like FBT assigned this work to a new associate or a clerk who did the work over lunch. Hope the arena authority didn’t get charged $500/hr for this exhaustive report.

This reminds me of Revenge of the Nerds when Stan Gabel committed to putting together a blue ribbon, fact finding panel consisting of Greek Council members to investigate who threw the rock through the Tri-Lamb house window. In other words, there was no real investigation.

Wow…for a “respected” law firm, I find it hard to believe they would be so short sighted….Is Molen suing? He should.

We all fear media scutiny, don’t we.

Remember, Glasscock is a high muckety muck with the Downtown Development Corp – he isn’t going to produce anything critical of Abramson or DD as a whole.

Media scrutiny? In this town? Well, I guess if you can pull them off of the cataclysm of the zoo train, maybe. But this kinda story would cause too much work, and our reporters, or should I say, our television reporters in this town have gotten a bit lazy. Radio newsrooms are non existant and there isn’t anyone left over at the CJ to investigate it.
Guess that leaves you guys! ;-)

Is this really a surprise? Abramson’s buddies at Frost,Brown, and Todd did not do a serious investigation into this?
It would be so laughable if it wasn’t so sad.

One has to wonder what the hell are the people running this town are thinking. They can’t even get a properly investigated report. This city is sad and the people that run it have to be some of the worst scoundrels that occupy our fair state.

I think that there should be a full investigation by the state and federal OSHA people about what these people are trying to cover up. Seems to me that the law firm is trying to cover things up again just like all of the lies surrounding the Jerry Abramson regime over the years. Its time for the AG to get off his butt and start looking into what the Louisville Arena Authority is doing. These people and their coverups are dangerous to the workers and it is also very unethical.
What is even more unethical is that the Arena Authority hires people with a vested interest in the whole arena project when conducting an investigation. There needs to be a full investigation into everything these people are doing in regard to the arena process including the contractor and subcontractors. This should also include putting the Louisville Arena Authority leadership on the spot and start asking what the hell these people are doing.
There are more skeletons around this city when it comes to the business community, legal profession, and the politicians.

I’m always game for a good conspiracy theory. Why not?
