Not much news on Sunday, unless you were covering the effects of sunshine on the moods of locals. Fox41’s Dick Irby was working, so he previewed today’s Board of Zoning Adjustments meeting. He did an interview with yours truly over at the Jewish Community Center, where Luke and I were jumping around in the pool.
Today’s BOZA meeting won’t deal with the mess involving the Javanon Soccer facility, but everything else that was decided on at that April 20 meeting, which was preceded by a secret, illegal meeting, is being reconsidered. The meeting started at 8:30, and could take a while. Or, since most of the items have already been discussed once, they might breeze through the various appeals and variances on the agenda.
But take a look at Irby’s report, in which we discuss the more important issue of how compliant Charles Cash and Planning management staff is with the wishes of developers, especially the big-time ones like Bill Bardenwerper.
None of this is pleasing to Mayor Jerry Abramson, who is asking questions about what’s going on in the planning department and is not doing it nicely.

Abramson has been aware of these problems for a long long time. For him to even act like he is upset about it is ludicrous. The only thing he could possibly be upset about is his goons got caught.
Irby and myself have done countless stories on BOZA and the fallacies inherent with Schreck and Cash. They both need to go and so does Jerry.

The above comments are right on the money. Good management is being in front of the mess, not trailing it with a pooper scooper…..hey, stop a sec and take in that picture – Mayor McCheese wielding a pooper scooper – fitting, isn’t it?
Cash and Schreck knowingly broke the law and conspired to do so – they even left an e-mail trail – that’s both crooked and dumb. Immediate termination is the only right course. And javenon attorney Bardenwarper should be censured as he asked for and got the illegal meeting (which he would know was illegal).

Can someone explain what planning and zoning does?
It seems like in both Oldham and Jefferson County, they simply follow the greased palm to approve development, with little thought to the impact on the community, approving rapid development without the roads, stop lights, or infrastructure to handle them.

Perhaps we could just save tax dollars on everyone who works there and replace them with a $10 rubber stamp from Staples.
